The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the senior executive team at LSI, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The COO is responsible for overseeing all operational functions of the company, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals, mission, and objectives of LSI.
This role demands a visionary leader with proven expertise in managing complex operations and leading teams towards achieving strategic objectives. The COO must exhibit a strong capacity for decision-making, problem-solving, and advocating for the company's interests both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead, develop, and manage operational strategies across multiple domains, including client resourcing, contract management, project delivery, and internal research.
- System Enhancement: Implement and refine cost-effective systems using tools like Mavenlink to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
- Business Practice Management: Oversee initiatives in economic development, business development, and supply chain management to improve efficiency and market presence.
- Advocacy and Lobbying: Develop relationships with key stakeholders and policymakers to advocate for favorable regulatory environments.
- Team Management: Drive the recruitment, training, and development of management-level staff within the operations division.
- Operational Oversight: Monitor and manage the daily operations and workflow of the department, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Strategic Direction: Define and communicate the strategic direction of the operations division, collaborating with senior leadership to achieve corporate objectives.
- Process Optimization: Propose and integrate new processes, technologies, and systems to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.
- Financial Supervision: Supervise financial aspects including budgeting and cost-control and provide comprehensive reporting on operational metrics.
- Strategic Planning and Business Development: Strong capabilities in strategic planning and business development.
- Operational Expertise: Extensive experience in a COO or similar senior operational role, with a comprehensive understanding of essential business functions like HR, finance, and marketing.
- Leadership and Communication: Exceptional organizational and leadership skills, coupled with superior interpersonal and public speaking abilities.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, information technology, operations management, or related field; MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience: At least 20 years of industry experience, including a minimum of 10 years in senior management roles.
- Work Environment: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to travel 25%.
- Successfully pass a drug and background screen.
- This position is located at LSI's Corporate Office in Layton, UT.
