Accounting Department Manager

This position manages all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of financial statements for all the Midwest TWF branches, Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, and Minneapolis. Additional emphasis is placed on strategic management in support of True World Group (TWG) Headquarters Accounting and Finance Function.

Oversees the daily management of the accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
• Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and schedules.
• Reconciles and balances general ledger accounts.
• Maintains Accounting Department reports and records and collects data for administrative, regulatory and tax purposes.
• Assists in the preparation and administration of company budgets.
• Analyzes financial data and provides management with recommendations to improve profitability.
• Hires, trains and evaluates Accounting Department employees by conducting annual performance appraisals.
• Preparation and timely filing of State and local taxes.
• Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Develop “second in command” personnel by providing experience and ongoing training
• Improve knowledge and skills related to accounting/finance and information technology
• Establish and maintain a Cash Flow Management program to maintain cash in the bank at optimum levels by controlling AR, AP, and inventory balance effectively, and providing analysis
• Develop and maintain Cost Management programs
• Produce and submit monthly and other periodic financial statements, with supporting analysis and summary, on or before scheduled timelines

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 - 4 years of supervisory experience in accounting function
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of accounting, business administration and budgeting
• General computer skills
