Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE

 

To implement and execute the Environmental and Sustainability programs for FFIC Inc’s New Castle Site.  The responsibilities include monitoring and reporting of key environmental factors, maintaining systems and records required for regulations, driving continual improvement, developing sustainability and environmental improvement projects and initiatives, and developing environmental education programs for the site.  Develop sustainability awareness, identify, and progress sustainability initiatives in alignment with Fujifilm corporate strategy. 

 

Ensure compliance with all local, State and Federal regulations and ensure adherence to Fujifilm’s Environmental and Safety standards.

About FUJIFILM Locally: FUJIFILM Imaging Colorants, Inc. is part of FUJIFILM’s Ink Solutions Group comprised of 4 companies based in the UK and USA responding to the Group CEO and COO responsible for 3 of the businesses including FFIC Inc.  FFIC Inc. has a manufacturing site in New Castle, DE where aqueous dyes, and dispersion inks are made to support the Ink Jet digital printing market. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

KEY RESULTS AREAS/DELIVERABLES

 

Environmental

·       Ensure compliance with Governance Guidelines, Government and Environmental Regulations, ISO environmental systems requirements and additional business legislative obligations.

·       Take a lead role in ensuring compliance with ISO14001 standards, with an occasional role in assisting with health and safety incident investigations, training development and training.  Lead and support the business in embedding an effective and proactive environmental/safety compliance and continual improvement culture.

·        Promote exceptional environmental compliance practices throughout all business activities. Create and maintain policies and procedures to ensure good practice for environmental activities on the site.

·       Manage facility environmental issues. 

·       Update permits and submit all required reports.  Keep business informed of site issues and concerns.

·       Progress reporting as needed including EPCRA Compliance reporting for TIER II & TRI, and wastewater reporting for the site and New Castle County. 

·       Stormwater monitoring and reporting, hazardous waste inspections and reporting.

·       Quarterly reporting to New Castle County for effluent monitoring.

·       Input the site environmental performance data for Corporate EHS through the Green Global Exchange (GGX).

·       Organize internal and external inspections with State regulators. Conduct environmental compliance audits and document findings through the EHS platform. 

·       Address all non-routine environmental issues that arise (chemical spills, etc.) with support from the EHS team. 

·       Arrange disposal and maintain documentation on all chemical waste generated. Support management of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste Disposal Program; ensure all shipments are properly manifested and labeled.

·       Plan and carry out internal environmental management performance tracking as well as internal audits, identifying and initiating/evaluating any necessary education and trainings.

·       Develop and deliver training internally in relation to environmental awareness, environmental policies, practice and procedures.

 

 

 

 

 

Sustainability

·       Evaluate the environmental impact of the site and identify focus areas for the site toward minimizing environmental impact.  Develop sustainability/environmental improvement plan based on data and Fujifilm targets.

·       Responsible to gather environmental data, analyze the data, produce reports to demonstrate your findings.

·       Ensure the business has appropriate sustainability compliance related policies and procedures in place which are well communicated and easily accessible.

·       Promote, develop and establish a positive sustainability culture ensuring business engagement with Sustainability strategy & performance.

·       Build and manage professional relationships and partnerships internally and externally e.g. local environmental agency, local authority and Regulatory Bodies as needed.

  • Adopt a proactive approach to improving performance and promoting sustainability with concrete achievements through interfacing with stakeholders such as R&D function, Manufacturing and Commercial projects, Sales and Marketing.
  • Develop and deliver training internally in relation to sustainability awareness, sustainability policies, practice and procedures
  • Manage CSR activities and projects, initiatives in alignment with Fujifilm plan
  • Support and facilitate environmental sustainability improvement plans and activities at functional and business level, utilizing appropriate tools and techniques for the circumstances
  • Responsible for ensuring that improvement projects have a scheduled project plan and executed as agreed with relevant Stakeholders

·       Coach and develop the environmental and sustainability culture within the business, meeting agreed targets and delivers best practice

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • Preferred: B.S. in Environmental Science with good knowledge of sustainability principles

·       A minimum of 3- 5 years related environmental and sustainability experience is preferred, ideally within a chemical manufacturing environment.

·       Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (Stormwater, Wastewater, Air, EPCRA, RCRA, hazardous waste etc.).

  • Working knowledge of ISO14001 management system
  • Experience within a similar role preferred but not required.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the sustainability agenda along with the challenges and opportunities it presents
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Process and Product Development preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and communicate environmental legislation

 

CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS

 

·       Incumbent must have strong interpersonal skills and teaching skills to promote environmental programs, to effectively promote the learning process during training sessions and to interact with outside agencies and community groups. 

·       Analytically adept and an effective problem solver, identifying the root cause, combined with ability to communicate succinctly and effectively. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Has a strong capacity to attend to the detail ensuring completion and consistency.

·       Strong computer skills are required for use of Microsoft Office and EHS platform.

  • Organized, self-motivated and the ability to handle multiple priorities.

·       Ability to work with all levels of people and across functions.
