SPATIAL DATA SPECIALIST

As a member of the technology team, this role supports firm-wide digital reality capture, development, and implementation.

Location: Rochester/NY or Charlotte/ NC

Hybrid Work Environment - Combination of on-site, field and work from home

THE SPATIAL DATA SPECIALIST AT CPL

The Spatial Data Specialist scaffolds spatial data operations for a wide range of project types across CPL's diverse practice areas, managing the resources needed to execute and deliver effectual solutions in accordance with project requirements.

Reporting to a Project Manager, you perform field scanning and spatial data processing, collaborating with a team of forward-thinking experts and applying ample experience towards the development of operating procedures and reality capture best practices, as well as the integration of workflows. A strong leader who works well under pressure, you have a knack for bringing clarity to confusing or otherwise chaotic situations.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
  • BS (or MS) in a related field and have at least four (4) years of relevant experience - or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong aptitude for data management
  • You're familiar with LiDAR, laser scanning equipment, photogrammetry techniques and related software/datasets.
  • You're proficient regarding Windows, iOS and Android, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite, ESRI software, Autodesk products, point clouds and 3D modelling.
  • You enjoy learning new things and adapt to new programs with ease.
  • You have a desire to apply innovative technologies towards meeting project demands.
  • You consistently demonstrate sharp critical thinking, leadership and creative problem-solving skills, and details are never lost on you.
  • You excel in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment which often requires immediate turnaround.
  • You work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • You have outstanding interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and via written correspondence.
  • Prior Architecture/Engineering industry experience is preferred.


CORE DUTIES
  • Serve as a valuable go-to resource for spatial data software and workflows.
  • Coordinate and manage resources for large-scale scanning projects.
  • Capture and document information utilizing aerial and terrestrial technology.
  • Support post-processing of spatial data to ensure quality.
  • Train and support tech services / design team members regarding the use of spatial data tools
  • Assist in equipment management, licensing, and use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
