HR Generalist

The HR Generalist at The Cake Bake Shop will act as a liaison between the team members and the Executive Team in all things related to company policies and procedures including recruiting, onboarding, team member relations, compliance, immigration, compensation and training in a fast-paced, growing brand. This role works directly with the Human Resources Manager to ensure operational efficiencies are met and that the company is in compliance with local, state and federal laws.

Core Objectives of this Role:

  • Manage recruiting process by monitoring and tracking all applicant activity, coordinating efforts of all involved personnel, candidate review, interviews, and other steps in the selection process.

  • Conduct onboarding and facilitate employee development/compliance training activities, along with the Training and Development Team.

  • Conducts background checks and employment verifications.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Assist in building new processes and procedures in order to streamline business operations.

  • Consult with Team Members and the Leadership Team to address and resolve workplace issues.

  • Regularly assess the Team Member/Manager culture and engagement, making recommendations to improve and ensure a vibrant culture and good work environment.

  • Complies with E-Verify/I-9 rules and regulations.

  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate HR Files.

Core Skill Set of this Role :

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Knowledge of principles and best practices for recruitment and selection.

  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills with team members and all levels of management; able to create a working environment of open communication and trust.

  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to confidently manage HR and medical related information and demonstrate ethical and professional conduct at all times.

  • Proven ability to partner with executive leadership to provide expertise on HR initiatives.

  • Adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve programs in a timely manner.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.

  • Clear and concise communication skills.

  • Effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information.

  • Prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.

  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.

  • Dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and must be able to improve performance through management feedback.

Role Requirements :

  • Degree in HR or Equivalent of 3-5 years of Experience

  • Must be able to work 45+ hours per week and have open availability on Weekdays, Week Nights, Weekends and Holidays (if necessary)

  • Ability to work out of the Corporate Office, while occasionally visiting locations for specific needs.
