Buyer/Planner

Position Summary:

The Buyer/Planner I is responsible for mechanical components sourcing and planning activities and works closely with stakeholders on forward and reverse logistics for various supply chain activities. This role reports to the Purchasing & Planning Supervisor.

This is an ON-SITE position, in Littleton, MA.

Essential Functions:

1. Quoting, negotiating, and placing orders for mechanical parts, assemblies and other customized sub-contracted assemblies.
2. Engineering Services responsibilities include purchasing for short run quick turn prototypes including:
   • Sheet metal/machinery.
   • Long lead parts to meet deadlines.
   • Working with engineers to identify alternate parts as needed.
   • Communicating with stakeholders on potential delays or issues.
3. Conducting cost analysis to make prudent purchasing decisions.
4. Seeking and helping qualify new supplier sources.
5. Managing vendor relationships, vendor visits, etc. Drives vendor continuous performance improvement.
6. Manage cost savings while maintaining quality of the supply.
7. Implementing engineering change orders.
8. Processing non-conforming material via reworks, returns, and supplier corrective actions.
9. Compiling, organizing and presenting purchasing metrics.

Education, Training, and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management or Economics with 2-4 years’ work experience in purchasing and/or planning in manufacturing industry.
2. Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
3. Intermediate to advance Excel skills with strong analytics skills.
4. Experience working in a global environment preferred.
5. APICS CPIM or CSCP certified preferred.

Physical and Environmental Considerations:

1. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
2. Must be able to use standard office equipment including telephone, computer/keyboard, and copier.
3. Must be able to walk around production floor and occasionally climb stairs.
4. May occasionally carry parts up to 40 lbs.
