Job description

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Sourcing Manager - Indirect to lead high-impact, complex sourcing initiatives across key indirect spend categories. This role is designed for a strategic leader who owns top-tier categories, drives measurable savings, and sets the standard for sourcing excellence within the organization.

This is not a tenure-based step-up role - it requires a fundamentally higher level of ownership, strategic thinking, and consistent performance across complex, high-spend areas.

What Sets This Role Apart

The Senior Sourcing Manager owns the most sophisticated and high-value sourcing categories, often involving:

  • Volatile pricing environments
  • Global supplier networks
  • Multi-year strategic agreements

This role establishes best practices, influences broader sourcing strategy, and provides informal leadership across the sourcing team. Consistent, above-target savings delivery over multiple years is a core expectation.

Category Portfolio

The role supports high-priority indirect categories such as:

  • Facilities
  • MRO
  • Office Supplies
  • Professional Services
  • IT
  • Travel
  • Logistics / Freight
  • Packaging Consumables

(Category ownership is assigned based on business priorities, spend concentration, and market complexity.)

Key Responsibilities
Advanced Category Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and execute multi-year category strategies, including market analysis, cost modeling, and risk assessment
  • Lead complex RFx processes, including multi-round negotiations and long-term agreements
  • Negotiate strategic contracts with optimized pricing, volume commitments, and risk-sharing provisions
  • Identify and execute supplier consolidation opportunities across categories
  • Manage executive-level supplier relationships, including performance reviews and escalation resolution

Leadership & Team Development
  • Mentor and coach Sourcing Managers to strengthen strategy and negotiation capabilities
  • Share market insights and industry trends across the sourcing function
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex sourcing decisions
  • Represent sourcing in cross-functional strategic initiatives

Performance & Value Delivery
  • Drive consistent, above-target cost savings across key categories
  • Maintain rigorous, finance-aligned savings tracking methodologies
  • Contribute to overall procurement performance metrics and strategic goals

Success in This Role
  • Consistently exceeds savings targets year over year
  • Serves as the go-to expert for complex supplier and category challenges
  • Elevates team capability through mentorship and knowledge-sharing
  • Builds strategic supplier partnerships that create long-term value

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of sourcing experience with deep category expertise
  • Proven track record of delivering sustained cost savings in complex categories
  • Strong experience across multiple indirect spend areas
  • Ability to independently manage executive-level supplier relationships
  • Experience in manufacturing, CPG, or food & beverage environments

Preferred
  • Experience with ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Appian)
  • Multi-site manufacturing sourcing experience
  • Professional certifications (CPSM, CSCP, or similar)
