Accounting Intern

The Accounting Intern position will integrate knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skill development in a professional setting. Involvement is based on the individual’s level of experience. Efforts are made for assignments to develop accounting skills and prepare the intern for future full-time employment. Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Support the accounting team by providing clerical assistance to keep the department running smoothly (filing, scanning, copying, shredding, etc.).
- May enter financial transactions into the accounting software.
- May help process invoices and payments, mail checks.
- May enter cash receipts. May assist in monitoring outstanding invoices.
- Work with the team to reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- May participate in month-end closing procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and analysis as required.
- Assist in identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Help prepare documentation for audits.
- May help test processes and provide support for software conversion.
- Collaborate and support accounting team and other teams as required.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software (experience with Deltek Vision is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to the overall success of the accounting department.
- Valid driver’s license.
