Assistant Golf Professional/Starter Head Golf Professional

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISES: Small Outside Staff


JOB SUMMARY:

Executes the essential duties of a Golf Professional and Starter/Marshall. Supervises a small staff. Observes Club safety rules and guidelines.


JOB TASKS:

• Working knowledge of Club policies and guidelines as outlined in the Houston Country Club Employee Handbook and

Orientation Guide.

• Assists members with starting times and pace 9f play on golf course.

• Assists Golf Professional with personnel management responsibilities.

• Assists with all Club Tournaments in the following areas:

1. Sets up tournament on tournament day.

2. After tournament sees to clean up of cart, bag, and range.

3. Completes all billing for tournaments when they are over.

• Directly supervises Cart and Bag Room staff.

• Makes inspections to ensure carts are being properly maintained.

• Oversees maintenance and “upkeep” of cart barn, bag room, bag drop, and surrounding areas.

• Monitors bag room daily to ensure proper maintenance of golf clubs.

• Responsible for shop cleanliness and orderliness.

• Conducts junior golf clinics and assists with Junior Golf Program.

• Merchandises Golf Bags and Travel Covers and other items selected by Shop Manager.

• Consults Shop Manager on a bimonthly basis regarding sales, reports and goals with in merchandising category.

• Fills orders/special orders as needed.

• Keeps regular contact with sales representatives about new products, information, promotions and buy back policies.

• Handles all golf club repairs for members.

• Responsible for Hole-In-One club information and billing.

• Responsible for billing of Video Center Season Tickets.

• Must be able to answer questions concerning Club services.

• Must report to work 5-10 minutes prior to scheduled beginning time.

• Must have all schedule changes approved by the Golf Professional.

• Will report to work in the proper Golf Professional uniform.

• Uniform must remain clean and pressed at all times.

• Must report to work neatly groomed each scheduled day.

• Cash Bank- must sign for and accept full responsibility for all caddy transactions and check cashing as needed. Must

turn in all records to accounting. Employee is responsible for any and all overages/shortages.

Requirements:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree preferred.

• Work experience on a Golf Course is a must.

• Teaching experience is helpful.

• Tournament experience is helpful

• Working knowledge of the game of Golf.

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

• Able to compute simple numerical problems.

• Knowledge of computers is helpful

· Knowledge of club fitting is helpful.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Working conditions are often hot, warm, sunny, humid, wet, or cold.

• Must be prepared to work early mornings, starting at 6 a.m.

• Must be prepared to work past dark if necessary.

• Work environment is often busy or hectic.

• Must work well with others as a team and help co-workers as needed.

• Hearing and talking sufficient enough to communicate with members, guests, and co-workers.

• Specific vision abilities include close vision, vision sufficient enough to read, distance vision, color vision, peripheral

vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50lbs.
