An asset-based motor carrier company that provides truckload services to Shippers and Manufacturers is looking to hire a Temporary Bookkeeper in the Lakeland, FL area. As the Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for working alongside the President and CFO on Billing, Accounts Payable & Receivable, Payroll, and P&L creation & closings.

What You’ll Be Doing

Communicates directly with drivers regarding missing documents, billing, deliveries, and loads
Completes daily activities such as uploading files to factoring company, reviewing customer portals, and index tagging all paperwork
Handles all cash receipts, applications, aging management, reconciliation, and resolves any discrepancies
Conducts weekly payroll for drivers, distributes statements, and handles payouts
Reviews payroll system for any potential improvements in efficiency and accuracy
Possesses the ability and ambition to review and improve current company processes
Reports daily revenue and weekly maintenance
Executes bookkeeping duties such as journal entries, Excel based P&L updates, analyzing P&L for accuracy, identifies corrections, and reconciles balance sheet accounts
Provides excellent customer service, addressing all calls in a courteous manner
Performs other duties as assigned

Who We’re Looking For

Prior experience in the transportation and logistics industry is a plus
Accounting degree preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
Minimum of 7 years bookkeeping and order-to-cash accounting experience required
Must be knowledgeable in PC applications, including Microsoft Suite
Must possess advanced to expert knowledge and proven use of Excel
Prior experience performing and processing payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
Excellent phone etiquette, written and verbal communication
The ideal candidate would be an expert at analyzing information, problem solving, multitasking, time management, organization, and have great attention to detail

What You Can Expect

$30.00 - $33.50/hr, depending on experience
Regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Temporary assignment
