Job Description

Our client is seeking a Mid-Level Planner to assist with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance for infrastructure planning in Colorado and throughout the western US. The ideal candidate for this position will have professional experience working on transportation (roadway, transit, rail) or other infrastructure projects. Environmental planners, transportation planners, urban planners, or professionals in closely adjacent fields with a strong interest in NEPA are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare NEPA documentation including, pre-NEPA planning studies, technical reports, Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Plan and direct small and medium-sized environmental and planning tasks, develop and track project schedules and budgets, and coordinate with technical staff, clients, and team members.
  • Prepare and/or manage team members to prepare document templates, graphics, mapping, charts, and quality reviews, to support technical reports and documents.
  • Conduct research, develop methodologies, and evaluate environmental resource conditions and permitting needs.
  • Attend regular project meetings and prepare meeting notes.
  • Organize, attend, and document agency consultation meetings to ensure environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Develop strategies for and support public involvement programs and activities.
  • Support and conduct environmental field surveys and impact analyses.
  • Participate in business development activities, develop proposal materials, support teaming partners on pursuits, and prepare scope and fee estimates.
  • Attend industry events and establish and maintain client relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in urban planning, environmental policy, geography, communications, climate science, environmental science, landscape architecture, or related field. Experience managing teams in a deputy project manager or similar role.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing teams and tasks to keep projects on schedule and meet client expectations.
  • 5-10 years of relevant, increasingly responsible experience with federal and state environmental regulations, environmental compliance, and permitting for infrastructure projects.
  • At least two years working in consulting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, Google Earth, and other mapping platforms.

Other Useful Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NEPA and related federal environmental processes is a plus
  • Environmental resource analysis expertise (noise, air quality, hazardous materials, etc.) is a plus
  • Master's degree and/or professional certifications (AICP, PE) is a plus
  • Experience working with Colorado local, state, and federal agencies is a plus
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus

The expected compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education.
