PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER (Contract – Summer/Fall 2024)


Flyspace Productions is a full-service, woman-owned event management and production company. We produce some of the largest festivals and live events in the region, in addition to numerous private, corporate, and community events. We provide our clients with support from a full-service, in-house Production Department that provides technical equipment including concert audio, lighting, truss, and rigging, as well as the largest fleet of Stageline Mobile Stages on the East Coast. Our Creative Department provides exceptional expertise in festival production, event planning, brand activations, and fine art installation.

We are seeking a Production Stage Manager to work on two music festivals in summer/early fall of 2024. The Production Stage Manager is part of the Creative Department and will be responsible for advance communication with the artists and acting as their primary point of contact onsite during the festivals. The Production Stage Manager reports to the Event Manager. This role will require in person reporting at event locations in Pittsburgh, PA. 

 

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Appropriately advancing and communicating with all talent, including local groups and national acts
  • Creating and maintaining show paperwork, tracking and communicating changes, and sharing updates with the team
  • Booking and confirming hotel reservations and ground transportation for each artist based on their communicated needs, making changes as needed
  • Coordinating talent hospitality orders and tracking hospitality-related expenses
  • Acting as onsite production manager, overseeing stage management team
  • Acting as mainstage stage manager, keeping talent and crew on schedule, overseeing stagehands, audio team, and lighting team
  • Acting as the main point of contact for talent representatives during the Festival
  • Proactively communicating any issues or concerns to the Flyspace full-time team
  • Completing daily financial closeouts and handling cash buyouts with talent representatives
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical theater, event management, or related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience serving in a traditional production management or stage management role for concerts, theater, or touring shows
  • Working knowledge of current lighting, audio, video, rigging, and technical theater terms, processes, and standard operations
  • Excellent abilities using project management software and tools and fluid computer competencies
  • Ability to adapt in different situations and engage in creative thinking to overcome challenges
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented personality
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and master new information
  • Proactive and resourceful
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, and sometimes stressful, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects and work assignments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain and establish positive client relationships
  • Maturity and understanding of the artistic process and the ability to work closely with clients, including artists, performers, and designers, in a diplomatic way
  • Willingness to work in a flexible schedule that may include long hours and irregular times, including weekends and evenings

Contract Dates

Contract #1:

  • Festival prep work begins: May 2024
  • Onsite festival dates: Tuesday, May 28 - Sunday, June 9, 2024
  • During prep weeks, anticipated hours of work are between 15-25 hours (remote). During load-in and festival weeks, anticipated hours of onsite work are between 40-80 hours. There will be an additional 10-15 hours of wrap-up work the week following the event (remote).

 

Contract #2:

  • Festival prep work begins: August 2024
  • Onsite festival dates: Wednesday, September 18 - Sunday, September 22, 2024
  • During prep weeks, anticipated hours of work are between 15-25 hours (remote). During festival week, anticipated hours of onsite work are between 50-65 hours. There will be an additional 10-15 hours of wrap-up work the week following the event (remote).

 

Candidates who are available for both contracts are preferred. Candidates must be available for all in-person dates to be considered.

 

Compensation

This is a contract position. Flyspace provides for a competitive pay range that is commensurate with experience.
