AT Systems is looking to add a new member to the team! Our company has been a B2B partner in the Custom Finishing industry for over 60 years. Our current opening for an experienced Laser Operator for our plant for the second shift (4:30 p.m.-1:00 a.m. Monday-Friday). The Laser Operator will be responsible for setting up, loading, and monitoring the Mazak Laser to ensure the accuracy and quality of the cut according to precise specifications. The ideal candidate should have experience with laser operation, be safety-conscious, and possess a strong attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities we are looking for:
  • Proficiency in operating Mazak laser or other laser cutting machines, including
  • Able to load and unload materials onto the laser cutting machine.
  • Experience with monitoring machine operation to ensure accuracy and quality of cut.
  • understanding the control panel, setting parameters, and executing cutting programs.
  • Familiarity with different types of materials, especially sheet steel, and an understanding of how material properties can affect the laser cutting process.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to set up the laser cutting machine accurately and ensure precise cuts.
  • Basic programming skills to input and modify cutting programs, including knowledge of G-code and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software used for Mazak machines.
  • Skills in routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing consumables. Additionally, the ability to troubleshoot common issues that may arise during machine operation.
  • Strong attention to detail to monitor and maintain the quality of laser-cut products, ensuring they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and understanding of safety features on the Mazak laser machine to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, as laser operators often work as part of a team in a manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.


Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Laser Operator in a manufacturing setting operating a Mazak, Trumpf or Amada laser.
  • Knowledge of laser machine setup, programming, and operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Safety-conscious and able to adhere to safety regulations and protocols.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities.
