Job Title: Women’s & Small Groups Pastor

Location: Austin, TX

Reports To: Discipleship and Men’s Pastor

FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt


Job purpose

To develop, implement and direct strategy for growing women into mature Christ-followers with a vision to disciple and equip them to know, love and serve Jesus Christ in their homes, church, workplace, and community. Serve as part of the ACF Groups Ministry Team, helping grow relationships that foster community and spiritual growth.


Duties and responsibilities

Responsible for prioritizing personal spiritual formation as a disciple of Jesus Christ, including devotion to the spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, studying the Word, prayer and Sabbath.


Women’s Pastor

  • Cultivate relationships that develop the spiritual health and leadership skills of women’s group leaders, while also identifying and preparing new leaders, helping to launch new groups, and delegating volunteer roles.
  • Intentionally develop connections with new women at ACF and women going through hard times or big transitions (recent divorce, loss of spouse, illness, recently had baby, went through recent surgery etc.), and direct them to appropriate small groups for community and/or love and support, or to Cares Ministry or a mentor or deacon, as appropriate.
  • Maintain an active presence in a women’s small group for the purposes of developing a new group, leading a group, or training new leaders.
  • Strategically plan and execute women’s outreach, gatherings and serving opportunities that move the ACF mission forward, from local serving to international women’s mission trips.
  • Regularly research and review curriculum options and participate in trainings or listen to podcasts, etc. to learn what is new in women’s ministry trends and find ways to grow the ministry and reach new women at ACF and in the community.
  • Develop ideas for women’s trainings, workshops, special events and retreats and oversee and implement all planning details for them.
  • Create content for women’s monthly newsletter and special events, working closely with the Ministry Assistant to finalize and distribute.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of digital and in-person training and discipleship tools.
  • Connect with all adult female baptism requests.
  • Develop budget for women’s ministry and manage events within the budget.
  • Continuously seek ways to honor, love on and thank women’s ministry leaders for all they do.


Small Groups

  • Initiate and lead planning for Group ministry connection opportunities and outreach events, including recruitment and special events. Delegate responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Work with Missions Ministry to communicate opportunities to serve locally and encourage group engagement with missions throughout the year.
  • Assist Discipleship Pastor in the development and implementation of digital and in-person training and discipleship tools, using volunteers as needed.
  • Regularly research and review curriculum for small group use and make recommendations. Lead initiatives for sermon-based curriculum writing team.

  • Proven ability to be broad in relationships across the church and deep with a smaller group of leaders.
  • Emotionally intelligent and mature.
  • Committed to the spiritual development of women, and persistent in reaching out to new women on a regular basis.

Pastoral Care

  • Ability to sit with, listen to, empathize, and provide spiritual support and guidance for those in difficult circumstances.
  • Ability to appropriately resource and refer those in need of care or counseling.

Small Groups

  • Passionate about small groups as a church discipleship strategy.
  • Knowledgeable about or willing to learn small group principles and strategies.
  • Ability to equip and encourage small group leaders and participants.

Team

  • Proven ability to function as a healthy team member.
  • Proven ability to build and lead effective teams.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience leading and participating in small groups.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent follow-through on assigned tasks.
  • Proven ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • A commitment to the Christian faith and the mission and values of ACF.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, social media, and ability to work/learn using the church database (Realm).


Working conditions

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.


Physical requirements

Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
