POSITION SUMMARY

Sinai Akiba Academy seeks a dynamic, committed, and creative individual to serve as the Library Teaching Assistant. The Library TA works alongside an experienced lead librarian and is responsible for assisting the Librarian in teaching Library curriculum, helping support the organization and tracking of books and library resources, and may be asked to work with small groups of students. In addition, the Library TA will assist with after-school library supervision, managing a positive and productive learning environment, and preparing instructional materials as needed. The Library TA also works closely with other Staffulty members and TAs to support and supervise students as they transition between classes and activities, during recess and lunch periods, and at other non-academic times. The Library Teaching Assistant participates in the school community including implementing RULER practices in the library and other school settings, collaborating with other Staffulty on interdisciplinary projects, participating in faculty meetings and professional development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the lead Librarian with implementation of Library curriculum, books and material organization and tracking, implementing the RULER SEL program and supporting positive student engagement in the classroom, on-campus, and during off-campus activities and experiential learning opportunities, i.e. field trips (as needed)
  • Provide assistance at the circulation desk with personalized and attentive service to patrons, including students, parents and Staffulty.
  • Supervise the library space for an hour after school hours
  • Utilize appropriate instructional materials and techniques as guided by the Librarian to differentiate for multiple learning needs
  • Collaborate and implement lesson plans as designated by the Librarian
  • Substitute for the Librarian (or other teachers) as needed
  • Attend Staffulty meetings, in-services, professional development, and all other required meetings
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, working cooperatively with multi-disciplinary teams to serve a diverse student population
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other specified non-teaching times

  • Complete additional tasks in support of Sinai Akiba's mission, as directed by the Director of Student Life & Experiential Learning, LS & MS Directors and/or Head of School

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Relevant experience in the field of education or library experience
  • Outstanding communication skills, including speaking, reading, and writing
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Calendar, Google Docs) and adept computer skills
  • Ability to positively collaborate with partner teachers and colleagues
  • Ability to engage professionally and positively with colleagues, students and families
  • Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning
  • Ability to work on campus weekdays 7:30AM - 3:45PM


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Hourly Rate Range: $21.00 - $30.00

In the spirit of pay transparency we share the hourly rate range for this position: $21.00 - $30.00. The hourly rate range is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at SAA are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at SAA, your final hourly rate will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full hourly rate range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for SAA in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
