Real Estate Paralegal

We are a major full-service law firm of 115 plus attorneys looking to increase its talented ranks of staff, by adding a Real Estate Paralegal with 10+ years’ experience to join our Real Estate  and Coop/Condominium Practice Group.   The successful candidate will work directly with all members of our team as well as our clients. 

Successful Candidate:

A self-starter with a strong work ethic and organizational skills and client follow-through are essential for this position. The candidate must be an exemplary team player who is genuinely interested in working in a supportive and collaborative environment. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of reviewing and analyzing title and survey documents, negotiating and preparing documents for title clearance in connection with sale, purchase, mortgage and refinance transactions.  Must have extensive demonstrated experience with (1) representation of condominium developers including drafting of condominium offering plans and amendments and closing condominium units; and (2) acting as transfer agent for cooperative housing corporations as well as  experience with real estate, condominiums and co-op closings.

Responsibilities:

·         Assist attorneys in all real estate transactions, including preparation of contracts of sale, closing documents and ACRIS transfer tax returns.

·         Coordinate the sale of cooperative apartments, including the representing of apartment corporations as transfer agent.

·         Obtain pay off letters and coordinate the delivery of the underlying stock and lease in the case of cooperative apartment resales.

·         Draft condominium offering plan back up documents and amendments including declaration of condominium, by laws, certifications and “blue sky” documents.

·         Obtain Department of Law “cloud links” and submit all applications including offering plan amendments, no action letter applications and CPS-1 submissions.

·         Prepare purchase agreements for condominium offerings and schedule and coordinate all closings.  

·         Work with our legal staff and the title companies in clearing title objections and obtaining clearance to close, and scheduling of closings. 

Qualifications:

·         Must have 10+ years’ quality experience.

·         Experience with drafting spreadsheets including the embedding of schedules in closing statements.

·         Great attention to detail, time management, and the ability to prioritize work tasks effectively.

·         Collaborative with a can-do attitude and can work well under pressure.

·         Comfortable working with all levels of business professionals, including but not limited to senior management and colleagues in all departments at a fast pace.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
