Transportation Analyst

Position Description:

Under the management of the Director - Logistics, the Transportation Analyst, will be responsible to oversee the day to day operations of a non-asset based Transportation Brokerage. He/she will plan and implement carrier scheduling, allocation, onboarding, and communication functions for the efficient utilization of carrier vendors and relations. He/she will be responsible for carrier relations, carrier bids and quotes, Freight payment and auditing and customer invoicing, the development of competitive transportation rates, schedules, routes and other modes of transportation to meet/exceed customer expectations and increase market share thru Inside Sales Opportunities. Proficient background in DAT, TMS and other Brokerage tools. He/she will be responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure client standards, requirements, and satisfaction are fully met and exceeded.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Oversee the daily operations for the New Jersey Transportation Brokerage office
• Utilize business network and relationships with various Carriers (i.e. long haul carriers, regional carriers, LTL carriers, drayage, and intermodal carriers) to develop new business revenue and market share
• Use knowledge of Dial-a-Truck (DAT) freight exchange service and other industry resources to generate new revenue and increase market share
• Inside Sales to engage, call and network for new Brokerage Business
• Oversee bids and quotes for any new potential lanes of traffic and secure pricing for this business
• Propose schedules and negotiate freight rates
• Schedule pick-ups and delivery appointments
• Track and trace all shipments
• Coordinate and manage the invoicing with both carriers and customers.
• Promote continuous improvement including strategic evaluations and SOPs for all transportation brokerage-related functions.
• Ensure proper compliance and adherence to all CT-PAT and federal/state regulations and requirements for the transportation brokerage Center
• Consistently promotes a strong corporate culture, quality, and high performance work team.
• May be assigned special projects at management’s discretion, as needed.
• Meet or Exceed the Monthly Approved Budget ( Operating Profit )
• Ensure all Admin duties including Accounts Payable /Receivables are completed in a timely manner
• Create Monthly KPI’s and Metrics

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree preferred or 5 – 7 years comparable work experience in the transportation industry
• Prior experience with a transportation brokerage firm handling all modes of transportation in a lead role for 3 – 5 years, preferred.
• Solid understanding of the daily operations and functions of a transportation broker role
• Effective negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to work in a high paced environment and meet critical deadlines; ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Proficient with transportation management software; experience in Oracle- based TMS, a plus
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Must possess excellent customer service, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in various PC applications including Email, Word, and Excel
