Position Description: Provides care to patients with disabling conditions of limbs and spine by fitting/preparing orthoses & prostheses under the direction of, and in consultation with, physicians by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Examine, interview, measure, scan and cast patients to determine their orthoses & prostheses needs; identify factors affecting fit.
  • Fit, test, and evaluate devices on patients; make adjustments for proper fit, function, and comfort.
  • Instruct patients in the use and care of orthoses/prostheses.
  • Design orthoses & prostheses, based on physicians' prescriptions and examination/measurement of patients.
  • Maintain patients' records.
  • Select materials and components to be used based on device design.
  • Confer with physicians to formulate specifications and prescriptions for orthoses & prostheses.
  • Repair, rebuild, and modify orthopedic appliances.
  • Construct and fabricate orthoses & prostheses, or direct others constructing the appliances.
  • Maintain referral source relationships with regular communication
  • Find opportunities to schedule in services to promote product line to new and existing referral sources

Education/Experience: American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) or Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) Certification and equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Scoliosis in-brace correction

Cranial Remolding Helmet correction
