Research Associate (Part-Time)

Life University is looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as the Part-Time Research Associate. The research associate supports the mission of Life University and the specific functions of the Dr. Sid E. Williams Center for Chiropractic Research (CCR). The CCR is responsible for the advancement of the mission-driven research agenda and enterprise at Life University. The Research Associate works to promote, facilitate, and advance the chiropractic research initiatives of the CCR. The Research Associate will be responsible for interacting with study participants, recording study data, training, data preparation, and implementation of CCR research protocols.

Responsibilities

1. Performs a variety of complex procedures involved in the collection of data for research purposes
2. Screens potential study participants for inclusion in clinical trials, including facilitating communications with participants
3. Assists with planning, scheduling, and executing research procedures, including informed consent procedures
4. Collects, extracts, and organizes research data for management
5. Demonstrates and trains others in the proper use/operation of laboratory techniques and equipment
6. Monitors laboratory procedures to maintain quality assurance standards
7. Reviews literature for information related to research projects and other departmental initiatives
8. Assists with the creation of recruitment and promotional materials
9. Assists with data analysis and preparation of reports, charts, and graphs
10. Assists with calibrating, troubleshooting and performing routine repair and maintenance of equipment, including tech support requests
11. Assists with updating reports and logs on the progress of clinical trials and other research projects
12. May assist in protocol design, protocol documentation, and creation of supporting documents with approval of the Director of the Center for Chiropractic Research
13. Investigates and proposes alternative experimental procedures for consideration by a principal investigator
14. Uses independent judgment in applying or adapting scientific techniques
15. Maintains required certifications and trainings
16. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or requested

Requirements

1. Associate’s degree in a scientific field and two years of research experience OR Bachelor's degree in a scientific field
2. Strong ability to work with study participants while maintaining integrity of research implementation
3. Strong ability to work with study participants while maintaining integrity of research implementation
4. At least 1 year of experience involving public-facing or hospitality skills
5. Strong organization and attention to detail
6. Competent in learning new equipment, gaining appropriate understanding to allow for problem solving as need arises
7. Strong interpersonal, mentorship, and training skills
8. Ability to work with and maintain confidential employee and research participant information
9. Experience in the implementation of policies and procedures
10. Flexibility and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines
11. Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications
