Job Description
The Senior Technical Writer/Editor is responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining a wide range of technical documentation that is critical for military operations and projects. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts, engineers, and other professionals to develop clear, concise, and accurate technical materials, such as manuals, reports, proposals, and specifications. The Senior Technical Writer/Editor ensures that these documents adhere to DoD standards, guidelines, and security protocols, often handling sensitive or classified information. They are skilled in translating complex technical information into accessible language for diverse audiences. This position also involves reviewing and editing technical documents for clarity, grammar, and accuracy and ensuring consistency in style and format. The role requires strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to work under tight deadlines. As a senior member of the team, this professional may also mentor junior writers and contribute to the development of documentation processes and standards. Keeping abreast of new technologies, methodologies, and best practices in technical writing and editing is essential in this dynamic environment.
Requires Security Clearance: Personnel must possess a final DoD-granted SECRET security clearance

Requires Security Clearance: Personnel must possess a final DoD-granted SECRET security clearance
Education: High School diploma/GED
Experience:
- Minimum of ten years of experience in creating and editing technical documents in support of Navy RMF accreditation
- This experience must have been performed within the last ten years.
- Working knowledge of the requirements for hardware and software documentation using the appropriate DOD/Navy standards to meet a diverse set of program needs.
- Demonstrate capability to collect, compile and track technical data and comments thereto, to include the documentation and tracking of CDRLs using automated tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe Acrobat
- Proficient with setting up and managing Microsoft SharePoint document repositories
- Working knowledge of DOD Section 508 requirements as they pertain to documentation
