Process Development Engineer

Elemental Enzymes is seeking a Process Development Engineer to join our new Process Development Team. This role will transition peptides and other biochemical active ingredients from the research and development phase to the manufacturing phase. The Process Development Engineer will research, design, and optimize processes to meet the demands of our growing business.

This role will work cross-functionally with teams that include R&D, Product Management, Supply Chain, Production, and Quality to ensure that new products are supplied on time and meet customer expectations. The processes developed must be safe, robust, reliable, and economical to fit the requirements of the agriculture industry. The activities of this position may be focused on the quick scale-up of samples for application development, creation of cost estimation models, and acquirement of new capital equipment and technology.

Responsibilities:

• Manage project direction and solve significant technical problems by leveraging scientific skills and strong process understanding developed through hands-on experimentation.
• Coordinate internal and external technology transfers.
• Accountable for planning and allocating resources, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the tech transfer process.
• Participate in all aspects of process development from upstream prototyping with R&D to commissioning full-scale manufacturing processes.
• Develop, author, and maintain production plans and records thereof.
• Plan, conduct, and evaluate productions at bench, pilot, and manufacturing scale for feasibility.
• Collaborate with technical and engineering resources to develop, and support manufacturing processes.
• Lead or contribute to manufacturing process problem solving, optimization, and cost reduction activities to improvements existing processes.
• Contribute to regulatory strategies to support development and lifecycle of products globally.
• Develop specifications and technical documentation for regulatory submissions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering or a related field is required.  
  
• At least 5 years of process development experience is highly desired.
• Working knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments preferred.
• Proven track record of innovation and success in conceptualization and execution of technology or product development projects.
• Data analysis capabilities preferred.

Location: St. Louis travel up to 25% will be required.
