Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service is looking for a Buyer to join our team in Houston, TX. The Buyer position is established to provide Cleaver Brooks Sales & Service with a qualified representative to handle routine purchasing duties. in support of service, parts, and projects. The position is responsible for procurement of specified commodities; vendor negotiations, quotes, expedition of orders.

Job Location: Houston, TX

Essential functions:

• Provide internal support for all purchasing needs
• Maintaining accurate data in ERP system (Watch que for approved req’s as they come in and issue PO, communicate with requestor’s ordering requirements)
• Issue purchase orders in IFS and submit to vendors and internal requisitioners
• Represent the company in a professional manner including using professional communication skills (written and verbal)
• Daily follow-ups on previous requests and general inquiries.
• Track, expedite orders, maintain tracking of backorders
• Respond in a timely fashion to general inquires and requests for information from ALL DEPARTMENTS.
• Able to work well under pressure and with a sense of urgency
• Organized computerized record keeping

• Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company
• Interact with suppliers and vendors to confirm and schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
• Oversee logistics for deliveries to job sites across the US. International shipping on occasion
• Basic math skills
• Performs other purchasing and procurement duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:

Education: A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory. BS/BA in materials and/or business school preferred

Experience: Two years’ experience in a similar industrial/technical position is preferred. Computer competency including Outlook, Word, Excel, required with IFS background a plus. Basic understanding of HVAC industry terminology preferred but not required.

Physical Skill & Effort:

• Record-keeping experience
• Work requires computer proficiency, moderate typing speed and a high data input accuracy level
• Willingness /ability to work overtime and weekends and emergency hours, as needed
• Must be reliable, have own reliable transportation; and be self-motivated; have the ability to work independently with little direct supervision
• Team player
