Vulcan Fire is a rapidly growing life safety company generating around $10M in annual revenue. We repair, replace, service, and install Fire Alarm Systems throughout Colorado and Idaho. Vulcan is based in Golden and we have two additional offices located in Boise and Coeur d'Alene. 


Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in accounting principles, financial analysis, and management. Reporting to the Office Manager and collaborating with the Executive Team, the Senior Accountant will oversee various accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), sales and use tax filings, bank management, expenses, payroll, and human resources (HR).


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments and collections.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and customers, resolving any discrepancies or issues that may arise.
  • Manage bank accounts and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Oversee expense management, including reviewing and approving employee expense reports.
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR department on various human resources functions such as employee onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance.
  • Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for management review.
  • Assist with external audits and tax filings as needed.
  • Stay current with accounting regulations and best practices, recommending and implementing process improvements as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - preferred
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with 2 years in a senior accountant role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • HR experience is a plus.
