Rezdiffra is a specialty medication with a supporting closed specialty pharmacy distribution model. As with all launches of specialty tiered drugs, fit-for-purpose Patient Support Programs and operations will be crucial to help HCPs and patients overcome any access hurdles. This role is responsible for leading Madrigal Patient Support (MPS) to include our Patient Support call center as well as a field based Access and Reimbursement Team. We are searching for a commercial leader with a successful track record of leading high-performing Patient Support Teams to launch novel therapeutics while creating a culture of continuous improvement, high engagement, accountability, and performance among external patient support vendors and internal employees. Vice President, Patient Support will report directly to Chief Commercial Officer, Madrigal Pharmaceuticals.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of NASH disease state, Rezdiffra clinical data and commercialization strategy; and while leading by example, assure the Patient Support Team (both internal and external) acquires and maintains requisite level of knowledge of NASH disease state and resmetirom clinical data.
  • Ensure access to therapy for patients through the MPS call center, the ARM Team and all accompanying resources.
  • Manage and lead the processes for continuous improvement of the overall customer (patient and Healthcare Provider) experience; ensures high quality of care and HCP/patient satisfaction
  • Create a strong working relationship with Patient Support providers to ensure optimal operational efficiency and performance across related vendors..
  • Collaborate with Data Director (who will manage collection of Rx, patient uptake and other KPI data) and Trade Director (who will manage the closed Specialty Distribution network) to ensure Patient Services performance data and metrics are collected and fed into the central data aggregator allowing for a comprehensive view of patient uptake at launch.
  • Ensure interconnectivity with DTC marketing campaigns, enabling an optimal experience for patients and customers.
  • Partner with Marketing in development of tools for the field to use to effectively communicate the patient experience platform to HCPs
  • Attract and retain high-caliber talent for specific Patient Services internal team in line with prioritized competencies.
  • Collaborate with the Finance organization and CCO to develop an Annualized Operating Plan and have overall Profit & Loss responsibility for Patient Services.
  • In coordination with Key Account Management team, develop and maintain strong relationships with select GI "super groups" and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN).
  • With a continuous improvement mindset, proactively monitor Rezdiffra Patient Services' performance and measure it against key performance indicators (KPIs) and best-in-class industry standards to optimize delivery of services to patients and HCPs.
  • Identify and address lack-of-performance anywhere in the Patient Support internal and external team members aligned to MPS in a data-driven, timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to think strategically about future needs of all customers and enhance/modify current supportive offerings to meet those requirements.
  • Expect to spend ~80% of work time dedicated to leading and managing the Patient Support vendors and team members and ~20% involved in HQ matters during launch year.
  • Consistently deliver on business goals and objectives while ensuring that the Patient Support team operates with the highest compliance and integrity standards.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated Patient Services leadership and performance in support of a drug launch.
  • Strong business acumen, excellent planning skills and demonstrated ability to organize and lead work of internal and external team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to garner high quality results from external patient support providers.
  • Exceptional collaborator that has a strong patient-focus and customer service approach.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
  • Ability to make quality decisions with less than complete information and demonstrated ability to communicate well with other commercial and medical functions.
  • 10+ years related experience in the biotechnology industry with a proven, consistent history of high performance in a broad range of leadership roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Deep experience in Patient Support with demonstrated results.
  • Demonstrated innovative approach to enhancing patient access to therapy.
  • BA/BS degree required. Advanced Degree in Business, Marketing or Life Sciences preferred.
  • Significant product launch experience in Patient Services leadership roles.
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership, management, and communication skills to inspire teams to achieve high levels of performance.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to set vision and strategy for Patient Services.
  • Strong understand of payer environment and utilization management measures that impact HCP prescribing requirements and patient access.
  • Strong history of creating and leading high-performance teams and creating a culture of continuous improvement, high engagement, performance and accountability.
  • Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders, with an ability to influence for greater outcomes.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excitement about the vision and mission of Madrigal.

Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
