Plant Quality Manager

The Plant Quality Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the in-house laboratory at an Integrated Proteins facility in St. Joseph, MO. Ensuring accurate data entry into the Lab Data Sheet. Supervising employee compliance with lab procedures and company policies. Communicating Quality Control objectives clearly to technicians. Guaranteeing adherence to the Food Safety Modernization Act and Good Manufacturing Practices concerning Safe Quality Foods.

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the quality leads and technicians
• Assist in hiring and (re)training quality personnel
• Assist in evaluating employee performance
• Address and resolve team conflicts
• Approve and assist in covering PTO
• Oversee lab equipment maintenance and calibration
• Create and maintain lab budget with the assistance of lead technicians
• Oversee retain program on-site & conduct 3rd party testing as directed   
• Monitor shared lab email inbox and make sure all emails are responded to in a timely manner 
• Participate in monitoring Quality shared email inboxes during off-hours to make rejection determinations in a timely manner 
• Review documentation to ensure adherence to the quality system
• Perform internal audits of the quality system, including but not limited to crisis management and recall
• Assist Corporate Quality with 3rd party audits and inspections  
• Other duties as assigned

• College degree (Biology or Chemistry preferred)
• 3+ years of management experience
• Proficiency with Office 365 (primarily Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook)
• SQF Practitioner (or trained within 1st year)
• PCQI Animal Feed (or trained within 1st year)
• HACCP-certified or equivalent knowledge of food safety and quality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently  
• Clear verbal communicator  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, walk, reach, squat, push, pull, and climb stairs for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work from elevated surfaces and/or in confined spaces for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
