Manager: Peer Review

What you'll do:

1. Responsible for evaluating new manuscript submissions to assure all copies of all pieces are present and electronically presentable before completing editorial checklist
   1. Reviews each field completed by author
   2. Compares title page and author list to ensure all authors are entered correctly
   3. Ensures compliance with Author Instructions
   4. Checks for anonymization of materials
   5. Checks for IRB and consent documentation, as appropriate
   6. Checks that required statements and materials for conflicts of interest are included
   7. Ensures that an appropriate checklist was included
   8. Confirms that html and pdf files have been generated properly
2. Responsible for monitoring incomplete manuscripts
   1. Determines whether or not a missing element can be created/adjusted in-house to keep the processing moving in a timely manner
   2. Unsubmits manuscripts that require additional files or information from the authors and communicates requirements clearly to the author
   3. On a daily basis, reviews status of unsubmitted manuscripts
3. Responsible for processing revised manuscript submissions, assuring no changes were made during revision that do not align with requirements for publication.
4. Works with Assistant Director: Peer Review and Online Publishing and Senior Peer Review Manager providing customer support to maintain and modify website for manuscript submission and peer review
5. Provides troubleshooting for authors, reviewers, and editorial board members, including help with submission and account management
6. Monitors e-mail for bounce-backs, failures, and responses, and takes appropriate follow-up action
7. Offers suggestions for workflow improvement
8. Provides backup support for other peer review managers on tasks such as manuscript batching, monitoring shared e-mail boxes, and sending reviewer invitations
9. Works on other projects as assigned

What you'll need:

• Comfort in learning complex manuscript management system, experience with ScholarOne Manuscripts a plus
• Proficiency in current Microsoft Office suite of programs
• Interest in science and medical research, familiarity with radiology and medical terminology a plus
• Strong organizational skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Able to multitask
• Able to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong problem-solving skills
