Working schedule: M-F

A Plant Raw Material Handler & Blender is responsible for working with and incorporating raw
materials into the blending processes utilized in the fabrication of product formulations, which
includes using necessary equipment to meet the quality criteria for each product, with proper
and safe manufacturing practices.

The goal is to maintain product quality and integrity while working safely and efficiently. A
Plant RM Handler & blender typically builds capability by accruing on-the-job experience, and
also through formal training onsite.

Job Description for Plant Raw Material Handler & Blender

  • Pays close attention to details and can follow instructions and guidelines provided in daily operations environment.
  • Handles a variety of Raw Materials used for blending/fabrication of products.
  • Controls equipment systems that process chemical substances into specified products.
  • Monitors the production process, follows recipes, and ensures efficiency of systems and equipment.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Reports to Plant Formulation Lead and/or Plant Production Supervisor.

Duties

  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender works with a variety of raw materials needed for blending and product fabrication and must follow safety practices as well as indicated recipes with precision, ensuring quality and efficient outcomes. Concurrently, the operator must keep a clean and organized workspace, for proper batch production.
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender is responsible for exactly following all SOP’s for each process; dispensing with required precision, properly mixing, post-processing and accurately accounting for all raw materials used on Production Orders, and recording process data as instructed by the Formulation Lead or Production Supervisor.
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender monitors the equipment under his charge. They will control instruments and make sure they're working properly, and will use it according to guidance. They are also in charge of shutting down or otherwise handling equipment during an emergency. They should work with the plant maintenance team and communicate any issues or questions regarding equipment use, to ensure proper use.
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender performs other administrative tasks as well. For instance, recording test results and other data related to a plant's operation. They also keep an eye on test results over time and suggest adjustments to the manufacturing process as necessary. They then relay those findings to supervisors and other managerial personnel.
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of plant and equipment used in construction and maintenance activities. They also ensure routine maintenance of this equipment, or raise any issues with equipment as needed, to be managed in tandem or directly by the plant maintenance team.
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender controls plant equipment such as loaders, drills, tractors, trucks, crushers, forklifts, and blenders. He moves and handles equipment at the project site while also carrying out safety checks on equipment daily.
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender should be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender should have the ability to carry out routine maintenance of equipment and also find out maintenance needs and operating errors on equipment.
  • A Plant RM Handler & Blender should also be able to identify the types of tools and equipment needed to carry out a particular project. They should be familiar with the standards and code of ethics of plant operation.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A college or vocational school degree is also desirable, even though it is not mandatory.
  • Some knowledge of raw material handling or formulation/blending is preferred
  • Knowledge of pumping, dosing, blending, and filtration systems preferred
  • Some computer knowledge preferred
  • Forklift & Tooling experience preferred
  • PLCs, VFD experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience with electrical wiring systems is preferred.
  • Must be a team player and work in a collaborative manner
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
