Job Description

Voted 2023 Manufacturer of the Year by Kentucky Association of Manufacturers for mid-sized companies! We’re seeking a clear & concise communicator to lead our quality assurance team. This person will be organized and will possess technical skills and experience with using data tools. Will have ability to effectively communicate plans and instructions to all levels internally and externally.

What You’ll Be Doing:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor leads manufacturing operations and support group functions to ensure process and product compliance to customer requirements. Directly responsible for leading the Quality Assurance resources for current product and new product launch support for the product supply chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.

  • Provide support for Internal/External Customer issues and provide a flexible environment to do business.
  • Provide opportunities for new/existing employees with training, tools for empowerment and motivation to enable them to perform their duties effectively, while maintaining accountability. Maintain program to develop employees in blueprint reading, metric systems, measurement instrument best practices (calipers, gauge use) etc.
  • Availability to listen to concerns of team members and be a resource to enable the resolution of problems that are outside the ability of the team.
  • Must portray self as a partner and leader by establishing team goals and acknowledging employee performance, both positive and negative, in a timely manner.
  • Applies modern quality principles, concepts, and methods to Aerospace and Manufacturing operation, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer’s expectations.
  • Support New Product Launch activities, define critical in process controls, ECR approvals, Gaging design, develop and submit PPAP; including metrology data (Polyworks), cpk analysis, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA analysis (GR&R).
  • Manage metrology lab schedule to align with new product launch, troubleshooting support and continuous improvement projects.
  • Manage and analyze RFC Quality Metrics including Quality Dashboard, MRB in ERP system, Quality Portal- Internal and External Concerns.
  • Coach/Facilitator for Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action through CI Teams to address all internal and external customer issues. Lead excellence in problem definition.
  • Identify and match resources with objectives in line with annual budget, including the identification and initiation of quality related training and equipment.
  • Ensure decisions are made in a timely manner and effectively communicated at all levels.
  • Oversee compliance with Quality Management System. Support internal and external audit processes.
  • While directly supervising employees, acts in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Schedule: This exempt-level supervisor role will primarily work eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs and will primarily be day-time hours but may occasionally work or travel nights or weekends as needed.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 1-2 years’ directly related experience in quality assurance role, including:
    1. Understanding and working familiarity with ISO9001:2000 or ISO9001:2015 guidelines and procedures.
    2. Ownership of root cause-corrective action process, including 8D
    3. Customer contact during product launch for quality-related matters; APQP/FMEA
    4. Hands-on experience with 3D analysis & inspections, GD&T, CMM, Faro, gages
    5. Knowledge of/experience with Six Sigma, SPC, cpk
  • Strongly-skilled with various computer software and data tools to include Microsoft Excel, Minitab, and Polyworks. Ability to learn/use manufacturing software Global Shop Solutions and other applicable systems for tracking parts and quality metrics.
  • US Person or meets ITAR/EAR requirements
  • Willingness to work onsite in Jeffersonville, IN daily and relocate within 45 miles of facility.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally, up to 25%.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
  • 5 or more years’ experience supervising or managing others in technical roles
  • Metal forming, tube bending, heat treating metals/materials experience,
  • Awareness/applied experience automotive industry practices and methodologies. 16949 and AIAG experience.
