Salary: $35.10 - $37.30 hourly

POSITION TITLE: Temporary Youth Exploration Construction Career Educator (CCE)


Reporting to the Director of Programs, this temporary position’s primary responsibilities include
creating hands-on experiences to introduce youth who have IEP/504 plans and other documented
disabilities to careers in the construction trades industry. Some of the main functions of this
position are to provide meaningful construction trades exploration opportunities for in-school
youth which may result in youth pursuing pre-apprenticeship and/or apprenticeship opportunities
following graduation.
Responsibilities include tutoring students and providing guidance in a classroom environment
teaching soft skills and introductory technical skills of the building construction trades. This may also
include monitoring behavior and adapting the curriculum. Depending upon individual assignments,
duties may also include clerical work such as typing and duplicating materials, supervising students,
and building construction projects. Services include but are not limited to instructions and
supervision of Division of Vocational Rehabilitation students, coordination training sites with school
officials, recruiting youth, and planning, and implementing work-based construction/exploration.
This temporary position will conclude on August 30th, 2024.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides instruction to students individually or in small groups in a variety of learning activities:
promotes student understanding of materials presented. Reinforces and reviews concepts and
skills. Adjusts tasks to suit the needs of students.
• Ability to provide knowledge and instruct students on construction terminology, industry safety,
and basic hand and power tool identification.
• Help prepare students to gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to join ANEW’s Pre-apprenticeship
program.
• Demonstrate the correct and practical applications with a variety of construction hand and
power tools used in the construction trade industry.
• Types, duplicates, collates, and distributes classroom materials and projects. May operate
a variety of equipment.
• Provide instruction/coaching for students related to students’ transition goals.
• May assist in ordering and stocking office and classroom supplies.
• Maintains student records, including attendance, graphs data, compliance in grading
information, scoring, etc.., and may prepare students’ progress information.
• Assist Youth Exploration Service Providers in preparing instructional materials, boot camps, and soft skills.
• Will assist in providing PRE-ETS services such as soft skills and self-advocacy.
• Models Apprentice Competency Evaluation (ACE) Stations to students using mobile ACE stations.
• Ensures students understanding of materials is always presented and safe.
• Other Duties as assigned.

MINIMUM / REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated commitment to economic, racial, and social justice and an understanding of the ways institutions and systems hurt communities of color through both conscious and unconscious bias.
• Flexibility and adaptability in working with a growing non-profit.
• Strong communication and administrative skills with a proven track record of managing multiple projects.
• Experience in working with collaborative partnerships.
• 72 quarter or 48-semester credits at an institution of higher education (official transcript is required), OR an Associate’s (or higher) degree (official transcript is required) OR Prior job- related experience paid or volunteer with school-age children or student Programs.
• Experience supervising disadvantaged youth, IEP, 504, and people with documented disabilities.
• Experience providing employment navigation for young adults. This includes identifying and reducing barriers that prevent successful job placement.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Background screening through the Washington State Patrol
• Background screening through the WA DSHS
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and or weekends.
• Proof of citizenship or other authorization for employment
• Continuation of employment is contingent upon successfully performing the work described.
• Continuation of this position is dependent on the achievement of performance goals and the availability of funding.

WORK LOCATION: ANEW Tukwila Training Center and Satellite locations as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday
REPORTS TO: Director of Programs

SALARY
This position is a paid temporary non-exempt position with a starting pay range of $35.10 - $37.30 hourly. This position is grant-funded, and continuation of this position is subject to continuation of funding. The starting hourly rate is based on education and experience as per the below matrix.

Years’ of experience have to be directly related to this position.

BENEFITS
This position is a Temporary Position. The person in this position is expected to serve a 90-day probation
period. This position does not qualify for benefits. Benefits will not be included until and unless the position is made permanent, which is contingent upon performance evaluation, funding, board direction, and potential re-development of the organization and its training/service delivery models dental, and vision benefits, evaluation of these factors and approval of position permanence are subject to the discretion of the Executive Director.
