WAVE Aquatics is seeking a skilled and responsible Head Lifeguard to oversee the safety and
well-being of our pool patrons. This is an opening role and would require the employee to unlock the facility. As a vital member of our aquatics team, you will play a pivotal
role in ensuring a secure and enjoyable aquatic environment, adhering to the highest standards
of safety, integrity, and customer service.
In addition, you will:
- Safety Leadership: Prioritize and manage safety at the pool, leading by example.
Supervise lifeguards, ensuring they are well-prepared to respond to emergencies in
compliance with American Red Cross standards.
- Emergency Response: Perform first aid, CPR, and both on-land and in-water rescues
according to American Red Cross Standards. Be the go-to expert in all emergency
situations.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct daily checks on emergency equipment, ensuring it is
in working order. Report any issues promptly for repairs or replacements.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a cohesive and cooperative environment by working
effectively with other lifeguards and pool staff. Act as a leader and mentor, sharing
your knowledge and experience.
- Pool Operations: Partner with the Pool Director to ensure the efficient and safe
operation of the pool facility. Assist with scheduling and oversee daily operations.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and
concerns in a professional and friendly manner.
- Integrity and Judgment: Uphold a high level of integrity and make sound decisions in
emergency situations, as well as in routine daily operations.
About you:
- Proven experience as a lifeguard, with a track record of leadership and responsibility.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and lead by example.
- Good judgment and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to safety, integrity, and professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Management certification or equivalent supervisor
training
- High School Diploma or GED
- Availability to work as necessary on nights, weekends, and holidays
Primary Duties Include:
- Prioritize the safety of everyone in the facility at all times by diligently
- Execute First Aid, CPR, on-land and in-water rescues per American Red
Cross Standards and ensure that any relevant documentation is
completed
- Supervise pool programs and ensure that they operate as intended:
facility is staged properly, lifeguard stations and rotations are set up for
success, all necessary equipment and personnel are accounted for
- Perform daily Emergency equipment checks.
- Perform daily facility walkthroughs at the start of the shift:
- Work with directors to ensure adequate pool operations
- Monitor pool water chemistry through water testing; ensure that all
required chemical checks are recorded and acceptable pool chemical
ranges are maintained
- Monitor the facility maintenance task sheet and ensure that daily/weekly
maintenance tasks are completed, reported and signed off by the
respective personnel
- Take inventory of First Aid supplies and report any supplies that need to
be restocked on the End of Shift Email
- Ensure that all King County Health Department requirements are met
- Review the WhentoWork App to ensure that all necessary personnel are
scheduled, accounted for and properly trained
- Review the Facility Google Calendar to understand day-to-day operations,
personnel and equipment needs
- Complete an End of Shift Email after every shift
- Provide excellent customer service to pool patrons and ensure that all Pool
Operations personnel do the same
- Advise staff of any additional projects as needed, based on facility conditions
- Plan, administer and attend all regular staff meetings and trainings
- Issue and record the sale of admissions, passes, retail items, etc.
- Ensure that receipts are written/recorded for monetary and digital
transactions
- Ensure that cash-in/out procedures are followed when opening and closing
the facility
- Work varied lifeguard shifts, including early mornings, nights or weekends
- Listen to staff concerns and report to the Operations Manager/Aquatics
Manager/Assistant Manager as necessary
- Assist with employees’ lifeguard training, education and development
- Complete any and all miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisors, in a
timely manner
- Abide by the Wave Aquatics Handbook, and uphold all staff to the policies
and procedures set forth in the Wave Aquatics Handbook
