Fabrication Foreman - 2nd Shift

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Fabrication Foreman to lead our team of twenty (20)+ welders. This position is accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a safe and timely manner and within all quality parameters.

This shift is for second shift 4:30p-2:30am

Responsibilities Include:

• Overall responsibility for maintaining quality program results.
  • In process quality checking - welds, dimensions, paint & coating tests.
  • Final inspection for conformity to drawing and customer specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate records and logs.
• Meets with the Fabrication Shop Manager to determine which items of production on each project are to be purchased outside to meet objectives of cost efficiency and schedule adherence.
• Maintains the fabrication shop and its equipment is in safe, reliable and efficient order.
• Responsible for adherence to progressive discipline protocol with existing staff as necessary. Escalate issues to the Fabrication Shop Manager as needed.
• Conducts evaluations of shop employees for merit and annual pay increases, and for advancement in classification. Reviews recommendations with Fabrication Shop Manager for final approval.
• Recommends changes in shop employee staffing level based on workload and anticipated forecasts.
• Schedule work hours based on shop capacity and due date. Assign jobs accordingly to individual availability, qualifications, and skill set.
• Set up and operate welding equipment as needed. Direct and assist in the individual supervision and training for shop employees.
• Oversee and maintain responsibility for overall shop safety. Ensure operators are not putting themselves or others in danger. Timely and consistently enforce all safety regulations and protocols.
• Oversee new employee training and development program to ensure proper skills are achieved to safely operate shop equipment effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor inventory levels and report inventory replenishment needs to Fabrication Operations Manager.
• Maintains records of all open shop orders and releases, returning those documents to the Fabrication Shop Manager once the project (work release) is completed.
• Provides marked up drawing back to Fabrication Shop Manager for corrections and implementation into As-Built drawings.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least five (5) years' experience fabricating and erecting welded streel structures per D1.1
• Relevant TIG, MIG and Flux Core welding experience
• Three (3) plus years' of successful experience in a progressively responsible leadership position
• Demonstrated ability to identify and prevent safety risks specific to a fabrication shop along with the ability to promote a strong safety culture
• Ability to operate and supervise operation of welding equipment in a safe manner
• Ability to interpret drawings and develop weldments from these specifications
• General knowledge of welding process to determine best process required for weldments
• Competent in communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to multi-task
• Proven success in delivering high quality projects on time and on budget
• Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiarity with Quality programs such as ISO 9001, ASME and AISC a plus
