Job description

Landmark is a leading provider of engineering, construction, and asset management services for storage solutions in the water, wastewater, power, and industrial markets. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Fabrication Project Planner to support production operations within our Decatur fabrication shop. This role is responsible for coordinating fabrication planning activities, reviewing engineering drawings, supporting production scheduling, and ensuring projects are executed efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manufacturing or fabrication environments and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities Project Planning
  • Coordinate with pre-construction and scheduling teams to define project scope, materials, components, and services required for CET tank fabrication
  • Ensure fabrication requirements align with project scope, schedule, and production capabilities
  • Support overall project readiness and fabrication planning activities
Engineering & Drafting Review
  • Track fabrication drawing releases to maintain production timelines
  • Review fabrication drawings for constructability and shop-specific requirements
  • Identify and communicate missing, inaccurate, or conflicting drawing details
  • Collaborate with engineering and drafting teams to improve drawing quality, usability, and standardization
Project Execution Support
  • Populate load breakdown files with standard CET component details for logistics planning
  • Perform material take-offs to support procurement requirements
  • Evaluate make-versus-buy and outsourcing decisions based on shop capacity and schedule
  • Estimate production hours for non-standard fabrication projects
  • Compare estimated versus actual production hours to improve future planning accuracy
  • Develop fabrication readiness packages including:
    • Cut lists
    • Fabrication drawings
    • Work instructions
Production Coordination
  • Work closely with shop supervisors and scheduling teams to support production execution
  • Monitor fabrication progress and proactively identify scheduling risks
  • Batch similar scopes of work to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on production flow and shop efficiency
Inventory & Completion Management
  • Verify completed fabrication projects for accuracy and completeness
  • Manage completed inventory and ensure readiness for shipment
  • Maintain visibility of work-in-progress and finished goods inventory
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain on-hand material inventory to support production demands
  • Update and maintain planning tools, reports, and tracking documents
  • Assist with standardization of fabrication planning processes and operational improvements
  • Promote a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
Education
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial shop environment
  • 2+ years of experience planning manufacturing or fabrication jobs
  • Experience supporting technical project planning and execution
  • Knowledge of shop safety regulations, including OSHA standards
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in the water tank utility industry or related field
  • Background in welding, metal fabrication, or mechanical assembly
