Job description

Audubon is currently seeking a Director of Fabrication to join our team. The Director of Fabrication will be responsible for overseeing and managing the fabrication of modular units at a third-party modular fabricator. This role will ensure that all fabrication activities are executed according to project specifications, quality standards, budget, and schedule requirements. The Fabrication Manager will act as the primary liaison between Audubon Engineering, Fabricator, and other key stakeholders to drive efficiency, resolve issues, and ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Oversight & Execution:

  • Ensuring compliance with Audubon Engineering's design and quality requirements.
  • Manage project schedules
  • Budget oversight for fabrication
  • Identify and mitigate risks
  • Review and approve fabrication plans, material requisitions, and work orders
  • Ensure all deliverables are met according to project milestones and contractual obligations
  • Will manage onsite QA/QC, document control, engineering as required.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Enforce compliance with applicable project & VG standards (ASME, API, AWS, etc.), customer specifications, and Audubon Engineering's quality requirements.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and quality checks to ensure adherence to fabrication standards.
  • Address any quality concerns or non-conformities, coordinating corrective actions
  • Ensure that all welding, NDT, coatings, and testing processes meet required specifications.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management:

  • Constructability reviews
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Audubon Engineering and fabricator
  • Work closely with procurement, engineering, and project management teams to ensure material availability and technical requirements are met.
  • Lead regular progress meetings with fabricator and internal project teams to review status updates, challenges, and action items.

Safety & Risk Management:

  • Ensure that all fabrication activities comply with OSHA, Audubon Engineering, and VG safety standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by conducting safety audits and addressing potential hazards proactively.
  • Identify and mitigate potential project risks related to fabrication, logistics, and execution.

Cost Control & Budget Management:

  • Monitor project costs related to fabrication, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Approve and track invoices, change orders, and budget adjustments as needed.
  • Support procurement efforts by reviewing quotations, material costs, and subcontractor agreements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in fabrication management, modular construction, or related fields, preferably within oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of modular fabrication, welding processes, structural steel, and piping systems.
  • Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS, and other industry standards.
  • Experience with fabrication management software and scheduling tools.
  • Primarily based in Houston, TX at Audubon offices for first 3-4 months.
  • Upon start of fabrication, primarily based at fabricator's location
  • Upon delivery of module to site, primarily based at site location (Calcasieu, LA)
