Job description


Well-established, AISC Certified structural steel fabrication company seeking an experienced, hands-on Shop Foreman to work closely with the Owner and management team in overseeing all aspects of our fabrication facility. This leadership position is responsible for supervising shop personnel, coordinating daily operations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
The Shop Foreman will play a key role in implementing and continuously improving our AISC Quality Management System, maintaining certification compliance, and assisting with annual AISC audits. Candidates should possess strong leadership and communication skills, along with proven experience in a similar supervisory role within the structural steel industry or a demonstrated background leading teams in a fabrication environment.
FULL TIME: MON - FRI.
DAILY START TIME: Typically 7am
8 Hrs. / Day

Key Responsibilities:ย 
  • Oversee all shop operations, personnel, receiving, and equipment operation & maintenance.ย 
  • Follow the Quality Plan to meet company requirements
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and actively contribute to its improvement.ย 
  • Support and participate in annual AISC audits and ongoing certification requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies for optimizing efficiency and performance.ย 
  • Identify and resolve quality issues, including nonconforming materials or processes.
  • Interpret shop drawings and assist with layout, fitting, and welding as needed
  • Delegate / Assign fabrication tasks and welding work according to skill level and project needs.
  • Inspect welds and fabrications for accuracy, ensure documentation is complete, and verify adherence to project specifications.
  • Maintain material traceability and review MTRs and BOLs for compliance.
  • Communicate material or consumable shortages to the Owner or Office Manager.
  • Train and qualify shop personnel; document and report training records.
  • Meet with all employees for regular performance reviews.ย 
  • Deliver Feedback to the Owner and other members of Management.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • AWS D1.1 or min. 2+ years of experience structural steel weldingย 
  • 2+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication
  • Experience in a supervisory or lead role
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings
  • Strong knowledge of welding, fitting, and shop equipment
  • Organized, dependable, and safety-focused
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and crisis management skills
  • Knowledge of all relevant safety regulations
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required
