Job description

Capital Professional Staffing LLC is conducting a confidential search for a Structural Steel Estimator for a growing client located in Tyler, Texas. The company operates within the structural steel fabrication, construction, energy, industrial, and infrastructure industries.
This position will review drawings, specifications, and 3D structural models to prepare accurate estimates for structural steel fabrication projects.
Responsibilities
  • Review drawings, specifications, models, and bid documents to determine project scope.
  • Prepare estimates and material takeoffs for structural steel fabrication projects.
  • Review 3D models and electronic design files for material quantities and fabrication requirements.
  • Identify discrepancies or missing information that could affect project pricing.
  • Assist with material, labor, and fabrication cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with operations, purchasing, and management during the estimating process.
  • Maintain organized estimating files and manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Experience in structural steel estimating, steel fabrication, construction estimating, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, plans, specifications, and 3D models.
  • Experience with SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of structural steel materials and fabrication processes preferred.

File & Model Experience
Candidates should be comfortable reviewing or working with STEP (.stp/.step), DSTV / NC1, Tekla models or exports, IFC models, Advance Steel models, SDS2 models, and other 3D structural models. Experience creating models in each platform is not required.
