Hotel Maintenance Engineer
Job Overview:
The Longfellow Hotel, a 48-room luxury boutique hotel, café, and spa, is seeking a knowledgeable, driven, and empathetic Engineering/Maintenance team to help with our daily hotel operations. Opening in May 2024, The Longfellow Hotel is already gaining recognition as one of the most highly anticipated openings in the US.
The Engineering team will work on property to help maintain the physical property including hotel, spa, and restaurant operations. On any given day, this may include painting, drywall, general building repairs and problem solving. We are looking for a team that believes in being a part of an inclusive work culture, who like to maximize time efficiency, and enjoys interacting with guests to help ensure guest satisfaction. Additionally, this position will foster the culture of The Longfellow Hotel throughout the Portland business community and will require a sense of playfulness to help rethink luxury accommodations.
An Engineering position is well suited for individuals who are highly motivated, are able to problem solve different maintenance concerns, and want to make an impact on the hotel profession in Portland. Role and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Chief Engineer and front desk team to maintain the physical structure and grounds of the property in a like-new condition
- Complete preventative maintenance for daily arrival rooms before check in
- Inspect and repair various concerns on property
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times
- Complete maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Help inspire a team that delivers a service of excellence, while upholding the Longfellow Hotel brand standards
What you bring to the table:
- 2+ years of experience in a maintenance/engineering industry
- 1 year of hotel/property engineering experience (preferred)
- Flexible work schedule, able to work weekends and holidays
- Knowledgeable in a variety of maintenance disciplines
- Painting and/or drywall skills (preferred)
- Commitment to embodying our values
- Excellent communication skills with guests
- The ability to work alone
- Good sense of hospitality
