Children's Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group, an 800+ physician academic practice affiliated with Children's Hospital Los Angeles is looking for a skilled Senior Financial Analyst that will be an integral part of the Finance and Accounting team. This position will report to the Director of Finance and provide advanced financial analysis, strategic insights, and recommendations to support executive decisions. The job responsibilities will include budgeting, variance analysis, financial modeling and forecasting, financial report generation and strategic financial analysis. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in financial modeling, forecasting and data analysis contributing to the financial objectives of the organization.
Essential Duties of the Position:
- Leads and executes budget development, budget variance analysis and budget variance commentary for assigned departments.
- Develops financial forecasts, budgets, and financial models to support strategic planning and resource allocation considering historical performance and future growth projections.
- Monitors actual financial performance by conducting in-depth financial analysis, explaining, and providing insights, including variance and trend analysis and financial performance assessments to support organizational growth and expansion.
- Collaborates with colleagues working in multidisciplinary teams at the corporate office as well as operational departments across the enterprise, identifies their financial data requirements and provides financial reports and financial analysis support.
- Tracks, monitors, compares, and analyzes revenues, expenses, amounts billed, payments received, payroll labor distributions, cost allocations, revenue, and expense accruals, to ensure adherence to budgets and organizational goals.
- Develops/reviews pro-forma financial plans, assesses soundness of financial assumptions and determines financial benefit and return on investment to the organization.
- Analyzes the organization’s performance of key financial and statistical metrics.
- Supports enhancement and expansion of financial and operational reporting by utilizing Microsoft Excel, Power BI and other Financial Planning and Analysis software solutions.
- Identifies opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements through data-informed analysis.
- Assists with the preparation of presentations and financial summaries for Senior Management
- Performs other duties and assists with special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance or Accounting required. Master’s degree in business administration or healthcare administration desired.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Financial Analyst or in FP&A role required. Healthcare industry experience preferred.
- Experience creating budgets and financial forecasts, financial modeling, and strategic financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel and other business intelligence software to support financial planning and analysis.
