Job Description
Reinhardt University is currently accepting applications for an Educational Technologist and Curriculum Designer.

Position Summary:

The Educational Technologist and Curriculum Designer will provide training through workshops and individual consultations to Reinhardt University faculty who seek to include technology in their teaching and provide developmental support for curricula within online programs. This position is responsible for providing continuous improvement through a diverse range of faculty development programs designed to support on-ground and online teaching and learning. The role is also responsible for championing effective use of technology in instruction through faculty training and development, instructional support, and administration of key services. Primary activities include leading online teaching faculty development efforts, supporting instructors in pedagogically sound use of technology in their courses to increase student success. The person in this position will be responsible for assisting with projects related to university-wide initiatives that support online and on-ground teaching, learning, technology, and student success.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

Candidates must hold a terminal degree in their field and at least 3 years of experience teaching online. An online teaching certification from a reputable certifier is preferred.

Candidates should also show

  • Successful college-level teaching experience, on-ground and online.
  • Knowledge of curricular design, learning theories, learning technologies and methods for teaching online
  • At least two (2) years' experience with online course creation and hosting platforms (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle). Must have strong project coordination abilities with great attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in support of eLearning technologies, online pedagogy and skill development is essential.
  • Individual consulting skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of personnel.
  • Ability to organize and conduct workshops and conferences centered on teaching and learning
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time well.
  • Ability to manage personnel relationships, provide leadership, guidance, and motivational strategies.
  • Experience in academic program development, curriculum mapping, and learning outcome assessments.
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying instructional design and technology principles, processes, and best practices in implementing faculty development events/activities in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of instructional design principles relative to educational technologies; knowledge of the integration of instructional technology and best practices specific to on-ground and online education.
  • Ability to identify appropriate emerging technologies and to assist with using those technologies for improved teaching and learning into the curricula

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

  • Design and offer multiple workshops to train faculty in the use of technology in the classroom and online
  • Work collegiately with online program coordinators to offer web-based faculty development for online professors (both full and part-time)
  • Support the Director in developing and implementing an effective and high quality new faculty orientation course.
  • Oversee movement of on-ground courses to online environments, ensuring quality of academic experience.
  • Lead curriculum design of online courses when new academic programs are launched or existing programs need updating.
  • Assist the Director in organizing a bi-annual teaching and learning conference.
  • Produce periodic “white papers” on best uses of technology in the classroom and best methods for instruction in online environments.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group consulting to faculty in supporting of effective curriculum design and use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Organize and teach workshops to students on how to use the University’s Learning Management System and teach workshops to students to help them use technology for learning.
  • Other duties as guided by the Director for the Center for Innovative Teaching and Engaged Learning or the Provost.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements of the Job:

General office environment, with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds required. Must be able to sit for long periods of time working at a computer.
