Summary:

The Head Preschool Teacher will work with the support of the Associate Teacher to ensure that the developmental goals of Reade Street Prep's programs are being met. Reade Street Prep, Tribeca's leading multilingual preschool, provides a contemporary approach to early childhood education. Our unique curriculum emphasizes advanced academics in an interactive, engaging, and nurturing environment.

Targeted lesson planning, thoughtful self-reflections, ongoing student progress reports, and regular parent and colleague communication are key responsibilities. The position will begin in August. Candidate MUST have a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, or a relevant field with early childhood teaching experience.

Age Group information:
  • Explorers: 2 - 3 ½ years, up to 12 students
  • Discoverers: 3 ½ - 5 years, up to 15 students


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work cooperatively in the classroom with the Associate Teacher.
  • Manage the organization and execution of developmentally appropriate learning experiences and care-giving that promotes physical, mental, and social development.
  • Create and document daily lesson plans aligned with the Reade Street Prep curriculum. Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Adapt instruction and materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Ensure lessons and activities are creative, interactive, and engaging for all students.
  • Collaborate with your counterpart Mandarin and Spanish immersion teachers to establish a synergetic curriculum that is both appropriate and engaging.
  • Exhibit professional conduct with parents and colleagues. Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective relationships with staff.
  • Arrive in your classroom at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each class and remain for a reasonable time after each session to ensure the room is left in proper order.
  • Maintain ongoing partnerships with classroom parents via emails, meetings, and conversations as needed. Each Friday, send weekly email to classroom parents, updating them on classroom activities and current learning objectives.
  • Maintain records of students' progress, routines, and interests. Keep parents informed about their child's development. Twice a year, complete student progress reports and lead parent-teacher conferences. Five times a year, complete "curriculum checklist" for each student. Write reports to ongoing schools as needed.
  • Complete forms and host observations related to the Kindergarten exmissions process for students applying to ongoing schools.
  • Attend all required staff meetings, professional development sessions, teacher trainings, team buildings, and school-run community events.
