Job Description

Job Title: Multimedia Specialist

Job Summary:

This role supports the House of Representatives, Office of Communications & Marketing team. Responsibilities include consulting with stakeholders, creating multimedia content for communication and branding campaigns, collaborating with graphic design teams, participating in project teams for high-profile projects, and maintaining knowledge of multimedia editing software. Working for the House of Representatives allows the opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping national discourse and policy through innovative multimedia communication strategies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Consulting with customers and stakeholders
  • Creating multimedia content in support of communications, outreach or branding campaigns, including social media platforms
  • Designing and producing concepts and presentation approaches for visual communication media and working with cross functional team members to meet specialized customer needs
  • Collaborating with the rest of the graphic design team to present final work products to customers for approval
  • Participating in project teams supporting House offices on high-profile or complex projects, often in tight-turnaround situations
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current multimedia editing software and techniques, with an emphasis on the Adobe Creative Suite
  • In consultation with the graphic design team, providing feedback and input on planning issues and the day-to-day functions and responsibilities
  • Preparing recommendations for improvements, modifications and/or enhancements to assure responsiveness to changing requirements
  • Informing senior management of unusual problems and unanticipated constraints
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of workplace policies, standards, procedures, practices, and communication programs
  • Participating in the development and distribution of all related program documents and materials

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Fine Arts, Visual Communications, or related field
    • Experience may substitute for a degree
  • Ability to provide references for three (3) previous customers, preferably with a government agency
  • 3+ years of experience in graphic design and the use of Adobe Creative Suite & Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience with both MAC and PC
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Good working knowledge of media production, communication, visual aid preparation, and all stages of the desktop publishing process
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with elected officials, senior staff, information systems professionals and non-technical users
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional CAO staff, as well as customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to work additional hours during surge periods
  • Ability to secure and maintain Federal Government security clearances, as deemed appropriate by senior management

Work Setting and Environment:

  • Monday - Friday, normal working hours
  • Work is to be performed onsite in Washington, DC
