Role Summary

The Sr Mgr, Software Engineering holds the primary accountability for leading teams responsible for overseeing software development within the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) division. Their key role is to guarantee the successful identification, evaluation, and endorsement of technical solutions aligning with sustainable business strategies and needs. They will leverage their leadership acumen and technical proficiency to attract and retain world-class software engineering teams, fostering growth within CARIAD, Inc. Their scope of responsibilities encompasses spearheading software development efforts, orchestrating financial planning, overseeing personnel management, and cultivating internal and external networks.

Qualified candidates will be a Subject Matter Expert in one or more of the following domains:

Embedded SW - Platform Software and Firmware (BSP, RTOS, Drivers, firmware)
Embedded SW - Onboard OS, Middleware, Framework and Application
Embedded SW - Product Security
Embedded SW - Over-the-air updates
Embedded SW - Vehicle-to-Cloud
Embedded SW - Middleware
Embedded SW - Infotainment
Embedded SW - ADAS
Automotive Cloud SW - Cloud-to-Vehicle

Role Responsibilities 

Foster a high-performance culture across all teams by promoting collaboration, integrity, inclusion, transparency, accountability, and compassion.
Act as an advocate for the software development division within CARIAD, representing its interests to executive leadership, and external stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with partner engineering teams within Product Areas, business teams, and across CARIAD to seamlessly integrate SDV into CARIAD’s systems and solutions, ensuring alignment with overarching goals and objectives.
Play a pivotal role in the formation and the success of telemetry, logging, and diagnostics, achieving a consistently high level of output and software quality.

Years of Experience

12+ years of experience in high-performance object-oriented software design
7+ years of experience as a tech lead, significantly contributing in overarching system design and SW architecture matters
7+ years of experience with different (embedded) operating systems: RTOS, QNX, Linux and Android etc.
7+ years of professional experience in delivering complex software products to the end customer.

Required Education

BSc in computer science, robotics, physics, engineering, numerical modeling or a related subject with outstanding grades or equivalent work experience

Desired Education

MSc or PhD and relevant publications and/or patents

Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals.

Cultivate a collaborative team environment, aligned with the company's strategic objectives and fostering innovation.
Innovate and develop intuitive, user-friendly dashboards and metrics, empowering internal stakeholders to independently conduct data analysis and queries.
