Technical Writer-Proposal Intern: Summer 2024

Job Summary:
As the Technical Writer-Proposal Intern you will participate in all phases of the technically-oriented proposal process, including opportunity reviews, proposal strategy planning, research, writing, and maintenance of proposal content assets and archives to ensure that all materials are customer-focused and clearly articulate compelling business value.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support company migration of legacy policies, procedures, desktop guides, forms and other associated documents within a new, online knowledge management system database/software portal. This objective will require managing, revising/technical editing, deploying and tracking these company policies, procedures, and other associated documents. The purpose of these tasks are to enable the company to store electronic governance type documents efficiently, securely and cost-effectively.
- Production editing of company procedural documents, guides, and policies to ensure that they conform to basic or standard style, structure
and formats specified. Typical editorial and proofing standards are based on GPO Style Manual, as well as internal instructions for
format/structure requirements. - Design, layout, and production of authored materials, including the creation of briefings, charts, diagrams, reports, and other visual elements
- Meet proposal deadlines, and ensure all contributors submit required data on time
- Must adhere to document revision control measures, practices (e.g., numbering methodology and change control).
Job Qualifications:
- A Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student OR two years of experience as a technical proposal writer (preferably in Federal Government/DoD or technical marketplace)
- Prefer candidates who have completed or are taking ENC 4212-Profeissional & Technical Editing
- Strong aptitude for understanding hardware/software engineering concepts
- Familiarity with MS Office, MS Project, Acrobat and proposal-focused databases
- Ability to manage multiple proposals and meet all deadlines
- Ability to collaborate with others on proposals and has superb written and oral communication skills
- Writing sample required with preference to technical writing sample
Minimum Requirements Needed:
- Associates Degree or enrolled in Bachelor's/Graduate degree program in Professional and Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or related field
- Positions with CME require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations.
