Job Description
Salary: $80,000-$110,000 + Incentive Compensation

Applicants must possess current US Work Authorization, and not require employer-sponsored VISA support.

The successful candidate will support Iconergy’s senior engineers in project development by gathering data from on-site audits, performing engineering calculations for efficiency and facility improvement measures, designing HVAC and plumbing systems in CAD, and performing energy modeling and reporting.

You will work on retrofit projects that improve facility operations, especially energy and/or water efficiency.  Our projects also incorporate renewable energy whenever possible.  The projects often address the following systems: HVAC, lighting, controls, water fixtures, ancillary systems and equipment (distributed generation, cooking kitchens, pools, etc.), and renewable energy (solar PV, solar thermal, etc.).  These projects improve the occupancy conditions inside the facilities while reducing operating and maintenance costs and the use of natural resources.

Projects most often located in the Rocky Mountain region (especially Colorado and surrounding states) and, at times, elsewhere.

A day in the life of the successful candidate:

  • Accompany senior staff on site visits/audits. This will involve data collection from equipment inventories, on-site measurements, and client interviews.
  • Gather and input utility bill data for electric, gas, water, and other energy meters.
  • Analyze efficiency measures for utility savings.
  • Perform energy modeling with energy plus software.
  • Perform design calculations for HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Draft HVAC and plumbing systems in AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Assist in preparation of reports and other client communications.
  • Communicate daily with Iconergy staff to review the status of your work.

Required background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering. Other degrees may be considered with appropriate work experience.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in HVAC design, energy engineering, or similar consulting engineering work.
  • Understanding of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, structural).
  • Hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or have ability to pass FE test within a few years.
  • Prior energy audit and energy modeling.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and oral) in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel VBA, AutoCAD/Revit, and energy modeling software (eQUEST, Trane Trace, Energy Plus) preferred.
  • Experience with energy/water efficiency and renewable energy systems a plus.

The ideal candidate will also fulfill the following:

  • Pass NCIC background check (required).
  • Pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests (required).
  • Hold a valid drivers license and provide your own mode of transportation (required).

You will work with a team that encourages and supports you to:

  • Work independently.
  • Take pride in the work that you do.
  • Create processes to complete tasks where no process previously existed.
  • Think critically about different approaches and implement the ones that are most appropriate for the situation.
  • Practice and refine your leadership skills on a daily basis.
  • Openly discuss concerns and propose solutions to address them.
