C&F is seeking a Business Development Associate to join their team based in Eatontown, NJ! A hybrid work schedule is preferred for this position, but remote candidates may be considered. This position will require 30%-40% travel.

 

The Business Development Associate will be responsible for helping research, coordinate, develop and execute on the organization’s strategy for profitable revenue growth and improved  client and broker/intermediary engagement.  This role will require both a deep understanding of our product portfolio, existing clients and the partner intermediaries/brokers.  You will also support the Business Development (BD) and Underwriting (UW) teams in selectively adding to our client / partner portfolio.

Job Description:

What you will do:

  • Work collaboratively with the various BD and UW teams in growing their respective lines of business (LOB)
  • Be the department’s Salesforce champion working closely with our Salesforce administrator with respect to maximizing all client, prospect and broker/intermediary information, reporting, dashboards & analytics
  • Responsible for Key Account Management (KAM) – Research potential cross sell and business partnership opportunities across A&H and P&C
  • Research A&H LOBs (both current and potential new lines), specifically: Life Insurance, Health plans/ASO, Associations/Affinity/FI, Insurtech, Pre/Sr. Market, Blanket Special Risk and Travel, GIG economy, etc..), including trends, disruptors, potential partnerships, etc.
  • Stay current with MGU, Broker and Reinsurer research; coordinate with marketing on other market/competitive research as needed
  • Attend and participate in Trade Show/Conference Prep & Support
  • Track & report out on all internal and external meeting minutes (Weekly BD Call, Monthly Business Unit calls, Fusion, and other ad-hoc meetings)
  • Assist BD in preparing for and attending various Client and Prospect meetings, including follow up correspondence and coordination w/UW, etc.
  • Act as liaison with marketing on PowerPoint and collateral needs
  • Work with BD and UW in enhancing key executive relationships within existing clients, broker partners and reinsurance intermediaries
  • Educate existing customers and channel partners on the full extent of our product and service offerings, and position these products effectively with the appropriate decision makers
  • Assist with assigned prospecting activities for new production sources and underwriting opportunities
  • Execute new business sales and marketing strategies
  • Other duties as assigned


What you will bring to C&F:

  • Some underwriting or business analyst experience would be preferred but not mandatory
  • The ability to quickly get up-to-speed on a new industry and/or product opportunity
  • Exceptional communications skills both oral and written
  • Strong presentation skills - experience leading meetings and presenting to senior executives
  • A natural affinity for solving problems and taking action
  • A strong competitive spirit along with a high-level of self confidence
  • The ability to effectively work with cross functional teams
  • The desire to learn, grow and move up quickly within Business Development

 

Requirements:

  • College degree preferred
  • 2+ years of insurance industry experience in a client engagement capacity
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Salesforce or other Client Management System experience desired
  • Ability to attend several conferences per year
  • Requires 30%-40% travel
