Position Summary
Under the direction of the Preschool Director and in accordance with the general policies, goals and standards established by the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, the Child Development Counselor is responsible for providing a nurturing, well-supervised, engaging and safe environment for children.
Must be 16 years at time of hire
Essential Functions
The Child Development Aide/Babysitter must demonstrate a commitment to the mission, core values and goals of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County and must demonstrate and ability to work effectively with people and be a team member. He or she must have a minimum of one year experience with young children.
The Child Development Counselor must also have:
The ability to communicate effectively with parents, children, staff, and director.
The ability to carry out engaging activities each day
The ability to interact with children in a positive manner
Principal Activities
Notify the Child Development leader in the event of an absence
Attend organized staff meetings
Together with other child development staff, create activities to keep children active and engaged.
Help maintain cleanliness and in order in the room
Participate in cleaning the room and minimal cleaning in the bathroom
Interact with other children while on the playground
The Effectiveness of this position can be evidenced by:
An orderly classroom in which children are happy and productive
Parental satisfaction as evidenced in comments to our membership team or executive director
Quality child care for all YMCA children
