Responsibilities

We’re seeking a highly technical platform engineer with strong communication skills and a DevEx mindset to help make a lasting impact on State Farm’s engineering community. You’ll deliver a PaaS solution for critical business functionality across areas such as ET (CX areas), End User Computing, and Information Security—work that will have long-term downstream effects for Product Teams and engineers. You’ll also contribute to a cohesive, established team with the right mix of collaboration, ownership, and standout soft skills.

In this role, you will architect and enhance the ROSA platform to meet product team needs, design for resilience, and minimize enterprise impact during outages. You’ll lead solution design with attention to risk, mitigation, performance, user experience, and testability; participate in sprint planning by estimating and owning development stories; and support automated testing and development as needed. Key technologies include Go, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS, along with a strong DevOps mindset spanning the product lifecycle from inception to sunset.

  • AWS knowledge and expertise with Lambdas/IAM roles
  • Cloud/On-premise networking (basic understanding, troubleshooting experience, communication across AWS accounts)
  • Kubernetes knowledge and expertise
  • Go programming language - API, CLI development
  • Terraform
  • CD/CI best practices (experience w/Gitlab)
  • Entra ID - OIDC/OAuth2
  • Shell scripting
  • Knowledge in enterprise application development is plus (not necessarily required)
    • Spring/Spring Boot
    • React, Angular, etc. (Front-end Frameworks)
    • Java / Javascript
  • In-depth GitOps/ArgoCD knowledge is a plus
  • SPIFFE/SPIRE/ZTWIM knowledge and expertise is a plus

Our Benefits

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

  • Potential starting salary range: $115,000 - $190,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
