Description

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Director of Catering to join our award-winning sales organization. The position would sell for the iconic Sheraton Framingham Hotel located in Framingham, MA which will be undergoing a full Hotel renovation in 2023.

As the Director of Catering, your responsibilities will include strategizing with the sales team to maximize revenue, securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts and executing catering sales and marketing strategies of the hotel. In addition, you will facilitate team meetings with the sales, revenue management, property General Manager and Regional Director of Sales to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining guest satisfaction throughout the brand. Heavy focus on group and catering.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Closes the best opportunities for each hotel based on market conditions and specific hotel needs.
  • Understands the overall market in which they sell - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc.
  • Aggressive negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close business.
  • Targets accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.
  • Take initiative to develop new strategies and uncover new markets to generate sales.
  • Excels at proactive selling.
  • Effectively can manage a team and builds internal relationships.
  • Consistently meets monthly revenue goals from room and banquet sales.
  • Effectively manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Proactively identifies, qualifies, and solicits new business to achieve personal revenue goals.
  • Participates in local networking organizations.
  • Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Responds to guest concerns or complaints in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Maintain and mange vendor relations.
  • Participate in local networking organizations, community, and industry events while representing Colwen Hotels in a professional manner

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a Catering Director role
  • 3+ years successful experience in proactive sales and the ability to effectively close business
  • Proven experience in maintaining and building relationships with existing accounts, while aggressively developing new business
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Must be self-motivated and results oriented
  • Candidates may be called upon to work extended workweeks, including weekends, to accommodate business and client needs
  • Prior brand experience a plus but not necessary
