Position Summary:
The Windows System Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing optimization of Windows Server environments across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms. This role requires a solid foundation in system administration, scripting automation, and disaster-recovery planning, with an emphasis on improving reliability and performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Server Lifecycle Management - Deploy, configure, and decommission Windows Server instances (Physical, VMware, Citrix/Horizon) following change-management procedures.
  • Advanced PowerShell Automation - Develop reusable scripts for provisioning, patch management, and health monitoring; integrate scripts with orchestration tools.
  • Cluster & High-Availability - Design and maintain Windows Server Failover Clustering, configure AD replication, and manage Wsus distribution points.
  • Disaster Recovery - Create and test DR plans; manage backups (NetBackup/Legato/Avamar) and storage snapshots.
  • Technical Consultation - Provide guidance to development teams on OS compatibility, performance tuning, and system interface design.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing - Author detailed runbooks; lead internal knowledge-transfer sessions.
  • On-Call Support - Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to address urgent incidents outside regular hours.

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of professional experience as a Windows Systems Engineer in enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Expert PowerShell scripting (module creation, error handling).
  • Deep knowledge of AD, DNS, DFS, WSUS, and Failover Clustering.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and Citrix/Horizon virtualization.
  • Familiarity with backup solutions (NetBackup/Legato/Avamar).
  • Strong analytical abilities, proactive problem solving, ability to work independently yet effectively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with enterprise storage arrays (PowerPlex, PowerVault, Isilon, NetApp, Pure Storage).
  • Exposure to BMC/iDRAC/iLO hardware management for firmware updates and health monitoring.
  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate; VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
