Summary
Ophthalmic Assistant / Medical Administrative Assistant
Full Time with benefits, hybrid role, Ophthalmic / Medical Admin Assistant, requires patient facing clinical duties and admin front desk duties.
Under the direct supervision of the Service Director or designee assists in the processing of patients by performing ophthalmic technical support services.
Duties
1. Performs initial patient screening by taking history, documenting allergies, medication reconciliation, smoking status, problem list, pharmacy, vital signs.
2. Performs Administrative functions, covering front desk, checking in patients, etc.
3. Sets up and cleans examination and test rooms according to infection control standard
4. Insures that equipment is working properly and notifies appropriate personnel when a problem is identified
5. Maintains adequate supplies of medical/ophthalmic supplies in exam rooms 6. Performs all other duties required to assist in and/or insure the delivery of complete care and processing of patient
7. Provides technical assistance to all services in the practice as needed
8. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served in the service.
9. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific need
10. Complies with all state, federal and local regulations and laws governing the performance of this position within this department.
11. Adheres to all the Infirmary policies and procedures, including confidentiality of patient and employee information, and attends annual in-service education.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- High School Diploma /GED
- Exceptional organizational skills and communication abilities
- Ability to work in a hands on clinical patient setting
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and general Microsoft computer skills (skills with Epic electronic health records a big plus), discretion and respect for patients' private health issues
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively required
- Prior experience or training in a medical assistant and / or administrative support position or medical assistant is a plus
