Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will act as a trusted health care resource and ensure the customer's needs are met through effective day-to-day support of the operations of the Retail Pharmacy. You will be responsible for the achievement of exceptional customer service, maintaining store conditions and inventory while performing all duties of a pharmacy technician.

Key Responsibilities

• Manually fill prescription vials and prescribed tablets and capsules.
• Read computer-generated screens to find indicated merchandise on labeled shelves, verify the size and strength of the product before filling orders
• Replenish medication in automated cells to full capacity; opening large quantities of bottles and cases of product.
• Perform basic mathematical reasoning to either count or calculate an appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions.
• Process and prepare third-party insurance claims.
• Communicate with physicians, patients, and third parties, such as insurers.
• Maintain accurate patient/client profiles
• Greet and assist customers
• Perform accurate prescription data entry
• Ensure that the Pharmacist or Pharmacy Manager has the data necessary to assess therapy and properly fill the orders
• Provide completed orders to customers
• Collect co-payments
• Alert the pharmacist for needed patient counseling
• Assist customers in locating over-the-counter products
• Maintain equipment
• Assist the pharmacist in providing advanced clinical services

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years pharmacy experience
• Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification
• High School Diploma or greater
• Active pharmacy technician license in the state of Texas

Critical Skills

• Previous retail pharmacy experience required
• Experience in managing Medication Therapy Management platforms
• Working knowledge of pharmacy operations and professional standards
• Efficient use of automated pharmacy processing systems
• Good computer skills
• Exceptional customer service skills

Education

• High School Diploma or greater

Physical Requirements

• Retail store environment
• Frequent computer use
• Able to select and lift objects from shelves
• Occasional lifting and carrying of 5-20 pounds
• Standing/walking continuously during the shift (8+hours per day)
